Default David Ferrer: The Strategic Scheduler

Ferrer has overall had a fantastic 2012 and the best year of his career so far. His strategic scheduling is admirable and allowed him to benefit from #4 seed once Nadal was out injured, especially helping him in the US Open where he did not face the top 3 until the SF, and in the QF showed Tipsaveric who the better player is.

So basically Tsonga, Berdych, Del Potro and Tipsaveric have really missed a trick here, lacking Ferrer's admirable strategic savvy, leaving them exposed in the QF of slams. Instead of tanking like Berdych, Tsonga and Tipsaveric, who then go on to win 1 match between the 3 of them, Ferrer strategic schedules to play at Valencia, then strategically non-tanks at Paris, then gets 2 wins at WTF.

Should the rest of the ATP tour learn from Ferrer's strategic scheduling tactics?

think the strategy is pretty much play everything and avoid Federer

the plot thickens for 2013. Maybe he can make a new plan to finally defeat his arch enemy. Marvel made a comic about it. Federer as spiderman

Tsonga clowns about, Tipsaveric works on his latest match-fixing plan, Berdych focuses too narrowly on beating Federer.

Meanwhile Ferrer strategically selects the tournaments with the weakest fields to optimise his ATP points level. He doesn't waste time on mug tournaments with low points and tough fields with little benefit, such as Winston Salem (good job, Clownga). What is not to admire about that?

This thread is designed to demonstrate respect for Ferrer's strategic scheduling, as it should be, rather than the unreasonable hate with the name tag 'vulturing'. Please take your spam elsewhere, ok, thank you, and goodbye.

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned...

Why the hell does every thread seem to be about one of MTF's most hated players? This should be merged with the thousands of other threads talking about the vulture's scheduling...

2012 Ferrer vs:
Berdych 0-0
del Potro 3-0
Tsonga 1-0
Tipsarevic 2-0
Almagro 4-0
Gasquet 3-0

He had no losses this year against any of the players directly below him. You need to accept he's a legitimate #5 and move on FFS.

Default Re: David Ferrer: The Strategic Scheduler

Ferrer used to have pretty much no haters at all here, until that mug called Lenders arrived. After that even bigger mugs simply followed suit and repeated this "Vulture" nonsense to death. The concept "vulturing" started as a pathetic joke but then the idiots on here with neither tennis knowledge nor respect started to think it was actually possible to vulture yourself to #5 in the world.

I myself greatly respect Ferrer's work ethic and competitive fire even at 30 years old. As for his schedule, he plays almost every week and there's not much strategy to it. HOWEVER, I'm willing to bet more pros would play just as much if they only could, but they're not fit enough. Pics on the other hand uses his greatest strengths endurance and consistency to perfection. He also has a good record against the top 10 & to top it off he is a humble guy off-court. The only reason to hate him is attention whoring.

More like strategic vulture - playing every other week and picking the tournaments with the weakest fields to collect as many points as possible and keep his inflated ranking up

I don't know why people keep ignoring all the facts and evidences and delusionably claiming that Ferrer is not a vulture.
