Re: THE Country Celebration Thread
I've already gotten one "You are an American aren't you?" so you see this is why I really don't like changing flags!

Well, you should appreciate being someone people like to know. I haven't got any questions as to whether I'm Norwegian or not. Slasher has been doing this more than us, I'll ask him if he get these kind of questions.

Yes, I'm most definitely Norwegian Flagwise I'll remain Dutch for a little while longer and then move on to the next country.
Vikings were not only Norwegians, btw. Also Swedes and Danes.

Much of Northern Europe, certainly. The borders were not clearly defined in those ages.
Yes, Norwegians, Swedes and Danes pretty much look alike. We also understand each others languages. The Finns, however, have an entirely different language that sounds nothing like thre three others. But they often speak Swedish also, if not we'll have to talk to them in English.

Re: THE Country Celebration Thread
I think you just want an answer from markus rather than doing the reading. And I will agree learning things are more interesting when you learn them from someone that actually lives there!

Re: THE Country Celebration Thread
Difference by culture? Well, we like many of the same things but there's always some variations. Also variations inside of our nations. Take for instance cross-country skiing. The Danes don't like it much, mainly because they don't have any snow. The southernmost parts of Norway and Sweden are also lukewarn, but further North where it snows more often, it is a much more established culture to always take out your skis when opportunity arises.
It's hard to think of any variations between us that does not also exist within each country. The Danes will be the most uniform nation, I guess, seeing as they're so much smaller geographically.
