Saville is going to get blasted off the court in Melbourne based on his current form. It would have been nice to see someone who would compete get a WC.

Your right he will get beaten but I think he has earned a shot if nothing else for experience. Next AO to be considered he needs more form. Very few wildcard options would have a good chance of winning. I think unless someone does something special in Sydney that Duckworth and Patrick-Smith will get the last two. If Groth had done a bit more in New Caladonia then he may have been considered.

As for qualifying Krygios gets one automatically. My guess for others are Reid, Bolt, Barton, Look, Kokinakis and Jones. I'm not sure about the other two. Perhaps Guccione and Ball if they are competing or perhaps one or two for an overseas player. I wouldn't bother with Ball or Guccione but I think Tennis Australia would give them one.

I read somewhere Lucas Pouille got a qualifying wildcard

The qualifying cut off was nice and low for Sydney so most AO wild card contenders are in the draw. I'm a bit disappointed that Kyrgios didn't get a QWC ahead of Andrijic (#1600+), Peers (#648) and Thompson (unranked) but I supposed they've got to share the wild cards around.

I would've liked to see Groth and Klein play Sydney qualifiers.

Groth was playing the doubles final in New Caledonia today.

Good choices on the last two wildcards there

So Mitchell (20), Millman (23), Saville (18), Duckworth (20) and JP Smith (23).

A good selection in my opinion.

Matt Reid is the loser here, finalist of the WC Play-off and zip given to him (Main Draw). In the past the finalist has got a WC into something. So why not Reid?
Also noteworthy - Duckworth and Millman did not play in the Wild Card Play-off and got AO MD WC's. Saville lost lost 1st round...

Do not play the Play-off and you will be better off.

You cant ignore Millmans form. Qualifying winning a round and taking a set off the world number 3. Duckworth has had some injures thats why he didnt play. And made second round last year. Cant say they are bad choices.

Yeah, Matt Reid has been unlucky two years running. Last year he was ranked 270 and didn't get anything (main draw) and this year the same. And he's still a young guy (22 years old) but not too young.

A friend of mine is best mates with Alex and I asked my friend a few times to ask Alex about where he was playing and stuff about 2 maybe 3 years ago! Then I had Alex as a friend on Facebook and he inboxed me so for the last year and a half I talk to him atleast once a week about everything! I spoke to him earlier tonight and as he lost to Garcia-Lopez he said he felt he could match it with him and didn't get blown off the court! He also is quite confident if he plays well enough he could beat anyone in the qualifying draw!
