Re: 2013 Australian Open Wildcards.
Wow Tennis Australia got a decision right. Then again a broken clock is right twice day and that sums them up.
Millman did everything he could and not even these fools could not notice.

Millman, Barty get Australian Open wildcards
Queenslanders John Millman and Ashleigh Barty received New Year boosts in the form of wildcards to play in the main draw at this month's Australian Open.
The 23-year-old Millman, who won through qualifying to play this week's Brisbane International, was rewarded by Tennis Australia for a strong year in which he hauled his world ranking up from number 541 to 199 after playing 25 tournaments.

Great surprise to wake up to, cures the old hangover right away. I guess TA couldn't ignore results anymore...

TA only supported Marinko because he forced their hand. They did not recognise that he was a talent, they only recognised his results.
Marinko only got Josh Eagle as a coach because he and Jonesie were of similar ranking.
Matosevic made his own luck and TA went along for the ride. Eagle is now called "super-coach" because of that.
If Eagle is "super-coach" why is Jones ranked at 370?

Re: 2013 Australian Open Wildcards.
Saville should be made to play the qualifiers for the AO. I don't know how TA can justify giving him a MD WC after he was dispatched by Reid and Millman in straight sets recently. How long can he live on his junior Wimbledon success without having to show something decent in the pros?
You would have to think Duckworth will nab one, leaving Reid, Smith, Krygios, Saville to fight for the last two. I think Smith should nab one: How many Australian players won a Challenger title last year? I think Reid's performance at the WC tournament means he should get one as well.
Krygios and Saville could be great players but they don't deserve a WC spot just because they have been in TA's system.

Re: 2013 Australian Open Wildcards.
It's tough to pick. Sydney qualifiers might be needed to split them.

Re: 2013 Australian Open Wildcards.
Reid won't get one, he will need one for qualies. They gave one to Millman who isn't a TA blue eyed boy, they aren't going to give it to 2.
Duckworth and JP Smith should get them. Krygios or Saville shouldn't, but think Saville will.

Re: 2013 Australian Open Wildcards.
Alex Bolt has been given a qualies wildcard. Intresting to see Kokkinakis was in Bernies team box in perth just then, hitting partner?

Re: 2013 Australian Open Wildcards.
Kokkinakis is the on site alternate for Hopman Cup (as is Donna Vekic)...... that's why he was in the box..

Re: 2013 Australian Open Wildcards.
Luke getting an AO MD WC is the right decision in my opinion. He's improved his ranked from outside the top 1000 to top 350 in 2012 and hasn't had a single MD WC so far despite huge success in juniors. Plus it frees up a qualifying wildcard as he would've needed one of those too.

Re: 2013 Australian Open Wildcards.
I agree that Saville deserves the AO MD wild card - based on winning two Junior Slams - a fantastic achievement against quality international opponents. Now to convert to the Men's game.
Other recent Australian junior successes have struggled with the transition (Lindahl, Klein, Jones, Groth - who all did well as Juniors). I sincerely hope Saville does transition well, although Millman blowing him off in Brisbane is not a good sign (but then Millman qualied and more...)
