About equal. But then again, Federer is a tough matchup for anyone not named Nadal really.

Besides, I think it's easier for Novak to grind out Federer than Murray on hardcourts, not to mention that looking at the future Federer's threat should diminish while Murray should continue, being the same age as Novak and all.

Players don't just lose their forehand, game, or abilities in a 2 monts span (unless of course injury or traumatizing event).
Sometimes they play well, sometimes they don't, that's it. And you can't define a player's clutchness by ONE tournament. If anything Murray has proved his unclutchness many many times.

Poor quality match, but the lesser of two evils won. So all is good, I guess.

Tight match, Murray was in control at first but played a poor game in the second to get broken. Nole found his range a little. Then both had chances in the third but Nole was too solid in the end.

Yes, but Fed can also hurt Novak more than Murray can.

Novak was something like 16/27-28 at the net today more than Murray who is considered better volleyer.

This. Djoker's mental toughness is what keeps him ahead so far in this match up.

Pretty much. Novak is probably the mentally toughest player on tour.

Also, one aspect of this matchup that is baffling is that Nole charges the net far more often than Murray. Considering Murray has both better volleys and better passing shots, this is a very bizarre dynamic, you'd expect Murray to be the one charging forward.

in 2008, his loss to Tsonga (after winning the first 6-1 iirc) was their 3rd RR match, Nole had already gone 2-0 up against Delpo and PMK and qualified for the SFs.

So disappointing, He just really lost his rhythm after failing to break early in the second set. This losing from ahead is worrying.

I don't mind Nole winning the tournament after the year he's had, but I don't think he was unbeatable today, not even close.

This is true. I can't believe the idiotic comms on the BBC and Sky said they hope they play in the final again. I can never get tired of saying what idiots Brit journalists are.
