frauderer has unfortunately made dealings with nadal, to ensure that ferrer is set to lose

this collusion means that nadal will stay number 4, and will get to hand frauderer dog biscuits at the Australian Open, leading to tears and smiles and praise from senile ex-players

ferrer has once again been screwed over by arrogant frauderer and nadal

humble djokovic and murray were placed in the same group, as blatant a fix as you will see

princess frauderina must be allowed to defend his WTF title

Out of 13 meetings, Ferrer has managed to win just 3 sets and get to 1 tiebreak

Before the rest finally beat Federer?
Davydenko: 4 sets and 6 tiebreaks
Soderling: 2 sets and 12 tiebreaks
Gonzalez: 2 sets and 5 tiebreaks
Roddick: he beat Federer in their 5th meeting

The rest were trending toward eventually beating Federer. Ferrer? He's trending toward fluking a win possibly when Federer is on the verge of retirement.....and maybe not even then.

Federer will win this in straight sets.

Federer's biggest decline has been in his return of serve, and he's lucky enough to be playing the guy in the WTF with the worst first serve. Plus, as has been outlined in this thread, Mark Petchey of Sky sports showed just why Federer has such great joy V Ferrer - playing slices to Ferrer's backhand kills Ferrer because of the way he hits flat backhands.

I admit Ferrer looked outstanding V Del Potro, particularly on return of serve. But Federer is so much more than Del Potro, with more variety. I expect Federer to win comfortably.

The H2H: 13-0 to Federer. Federer has beaten Ferrer twice at the WTF in London in straight sets in 2010 and 2011. In fact in 13 meetings, Ferrer has only won 3 sets out of 30. One in 10. What makes people think he will suddenly win two tomorrow?

Federer has won ten straight matches against left-handers, so how scaring that will be is arguable...

Default Re: WWW WTF RR: Federer - Ferrer

The problem for Ferrer is that he is not a great counterpuncher. He's half defensive grinder and half offensive point constructor (his inside out forehand is one of the best in the league).

His return game is great (although his read on Federers serve is not), but he does not have great passing shots and he doesn't redirect Federers pace as well as Murray or Novak. He doesn't deal with the slice very well, he loses topspin bh to bh rallies consistently and he ends up getting blitzed when Roger gets to the net. Further he feeds balls into Rogers wheelhouse b/c he has no anticipation of where Roger's balls are going to be going.

He doesn't really have any safe places to play (none of his shots bother Roger at any place on the court) and really his only chance is to redline his game like he tried to do earlier this year on clay, and to be aggressive enough that he can keep Roger guessing.

At least Lleyton Hewitt during his prime could try to get an advantage over Fed by luring him into net (where his pinpoint passes could hurt him), but other than that, it always seems like an exercise in futility where David is hopelessly overpowered and pushed around like a ragdoll, giving up swaths of yards of realestate in the process.

HAHAHA.

Seriously, I can stand the constant trolling and nonsense by just ignoring it, I'm even beginning to find it pretty funny to be honest, but do we really have to bear those crass homophobic jokes? (BTW is is not supposed to be a bannable offence anyway? )

Hypocrisy at its finest. You sure were not crying for a ban to be handed when a poster last week started a thread named 'Ferrer doggy styles Tsonga' after he beat Jo in Paris, were you? I guess it's only 'homophobic' in certain situations eh?

It's not even homophobic at all tbf, no idea what you're on about.

As unlikely as it may sound, Ferrer in his current exquisite form may well have a good chance, should Fed not being able to get himself plenty of good first serves (as he wasn't during his match against Tipsy, however one sided that match turned out to be).

Unless Fed finds his best form, this match will go to three, and the eventual outcome might well be a TB-toss-up.
In other words, straight sets victory for Fed, or a three sets victory for either one of them.
