Re: Is Jerzy Janowicz top 10 material??
Anyone who thinks so should check JJ's results last 6 months. They are not particularly impressive.

To be something like a "permanent top-10", you need to be a top-5 material.

I didnt mean "permanent top 10" , it is very hard to achieve, only superstars can do it year after year after year. Big Boys Club I meant more being almost always seeded in slams and to be top 10 sometimes, then drop out of it, but not very far. Like Almagro or Verdasco. If they are doing very well, they are in top 10. If they are in slump, they drop out of 10, but still remain in top 32,in the elite group of slam seeds.

OK didn't know the definition of the "big boys club"
but what you say I think he can do it.
After all, Isner has been in that club for 3 years, and Karlovic managed to get there for a while with not much beside his serve.
With such a serve "you can travel comfortably" if you have some bases besides. And some bases he has. And he's only 22 years old in 2 weeks.

he was improving already, and suddenly had one great result in a big event.
it's been a very common way to emerge since I've started following tennis.
Even Kuerten before winning Roland-Garros had not been that impressive (was number 70 in the world when the FO started, was improving but nothing "impressive" during clay season, and he was nearly 21 years old)

but maybe he could surprise me

Re: Is Jerzy Janowicz top 10 material??
He is only 22. If he does enter the top 10 in his career, it will likely be in a few years when he matures and gets better with the mental side of his game. So many younger guys today are dismissed as having good careers because of their results in the last week or month. Surely nobody thought Stan would be top 10 in 2007?

Re: Is Jerzy Janowicz top 10 material??
From what my eyes have been seeing, I think he'll be a top 10 player easily, perhaps even top 5 in 2015. If he's healthy of course.
He's got all the shots, but his mentality (or his inner demons) is still questionable. Should be the best indoors and on hard courts.
