OP says it happened at 7am and he'd had an evening with his friends. So maybe that's a time when your ideas aren't the smartest ones.
Still terrible, hopefully he'll be fine and even able to play tennis competitively.

Well given that initially the doctors weren't even sure he'd make it through, and he's in intensive care, I think it definitely is very serious. Forgetting tennis, I just hope he's able to fully recover and have a normal life - no information as yet as to what he's fractured and what longterm damage may have been done.
Surprised by lack of coverage by tennis media - sure he's 189 but he's been ranked higher and has a higher profile due to his tennis connections.

Re: Bubka falls from third floor window in Paris; suffers multiple fractures
wth. Very sad for Bubka and his close ones. 10 hour surgery and it's indeed gonna be a loooooong recovery.
this is just speculation but I dont think a man in normal unaffected state would attempt a stunt like that. could be some alcohol, medication, drugs or whatever involved but it doesn't really matter.
The important thing is that he survived. A third floor drop could easily kill a person

it even looks worse : it's "3e étage" in French, which is said "4th floor" in English if I'm not mistaken.

Probably wasn't sober at the time. That's unfortunate. Hope he's alright.

Ok well that sounds a little more serious. Just read the title and some of the OP. 10 hour surgery is heavy. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Re: Bubka falls from third floor window in Paris; suffers multiple fractures
No way a sane man in a sober state would do that no matter how high his father could jump with a pole vault. I do hope he recovers though, as it sounds like an unfortunate accident. Btw, is he still Vikarenka's BF?
