Del Potro's peak is far better than anything Ferrer is capable of. Sure, Ferrer has been the more consistent player in recent times and wins/advances far in the minor tournaments often, but in the grand scheme of things, so what?

This thread made me look at the Paris draw and I have to feel sorry for Ferrer, in a masters with no Nole or Federer he has to fight through Wawa, the probably Tsonga, then probably DelPo just to get to the finals where it'll be Murray... Ridiculous draw for 1 of the top 4 seeds.

Del Potro just beat Federer in a tournament final (on indoor hard). Just let this sink in for a moment; it doesn't seem like much - and it is not for a player of JMDP's talent and potential - but it's way above Ferrer's ceiling as he cannot win tournaments with players of Federer's caliber around, let alone beating them in the final. Let's not even talk about other achievements here. |
