Hope some player like Berdych saves Paris. Fedal is coming to an end anyway. Only a matter of time before the rankings also start to reflect that

As you said yourself, it's impossible to vulture a mandatory tournament, so Ferrer should be OK.

No, because Ferrer haters will suffer at the end of this tournament.

If you don't mind me asking, what exactly will be the cause of their suffering?

It all depends on how seriously Murray takes this tournament really, but you know what is the danger ahead for Ferrer haters if Murray decides to tank.

No way can it be worse than Madrid. Which was not only the worst tournament this year, but the worst master series ever.

Paris is always like this with injuries.

I concur, if Our Hero decides he'd rather let this title go in order to rest up, the terrier (rightful #5) will be there to sweep up.

There's still several big names here. Canada wasn't really like that.

I really don't. Unless you consider Ferrer losing to Tsonga (if he even beats Wawrinka) in QF dangerous for Ferrer haters (which would be bizarre), I really don't see any danger.

Besides, no matter how seriously Murray takes the tournament, he could lose to Tipsy (who has always caused him trouble) and especially Berdych (Tomas beat him here last year - no wind to mess up his serve and send his massive strokes out this time).

Ferrer's only chance of winning is if every WTF contestant withdraws/tanks; he has never beaten any of them in a semi or final of any tournament for a reason.

You've contradicted yourself there. You admitting he needs Murray to tank to have a chance is enough indication that he is not the rightful #5, if he was beating one of the players ranked above him (it's not like he has to beat 2/3 back to back) should be a possibiity.

Yep. This tournament was a joke and probably always will be.

In term of QF field it is really close, at least Toronto had Nole to grab those 1000 points.

Just 2 chances here :

1.Give that 1 week back you idiots at ATP
2. Move it to February immediately for 2013

Another season with Paris-WTF back to back without no week for rest is joke

Toronto was a decent tournament compared to the players sliding about on blue clay in Rome or the tankfest this week in Paris. Please move this tournament to February as it's going to be the same nonsense next year too.

Paris is far better tournament than Toronto. I just love it, the city, the stadium, pretty ok court speed.

About moving to February : what does it mean ? More rest in offseason for players, yes. But then all top players would give a shit about great tournaments like Rotterdam or Dubai, and play only Paris/IW/Miami after Australian Open.

My opinion is to cut either IW or Miami into one week (maybe both) - for example IW from Monday to Sunday and Miami from Monday to next Monday.
It could save one or maybe even two weeks for top players and then ATP could have a week off between Paris and London.
