After a long battle with cancer, it has been announced that Hugo Chavez has died.

He at first represented a hope for me with his social christian right-wing speeches but ultimately, he proved a libertarian, like all the others. Shame.
I still sincerely wish him to RIP.

I will never be happy with someone's death, and bearing that in mind, I will say that this was one of the best things that could have happened to Venezuela.

RIP. A great, democratic leader who did much to help the poor in Venezuela.
His critics point to his support for dictatorships in Iran and Syria yet the Western powers endorse dictatorships such as Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan. Double standards indeed.
I find it hypocritical and amusing to see the usual 'tyrant' bullshit coming from the right-wing Republican Americans and even some on the left. The coup to oust him in 2002 had shades of when a perfectly democratic Chilean government was ousted with the US support and a man called Augusto Pinochet was put in.
Why don't Fox News complain about that?
