Default Ski Jumping thread

Anybody else interested in ski jumping?

I think it's one of the most interesting sports right now, so many jumpers capable winning competitions there.

Four Hills Tournament starting tomorrow. Prequalified Ammann, Hayböck, and Koudelka skipped the qualification round and will face the qualification top 3 on the first round. Someone's dreams can end before they even start.

Used to follow it, but lost interest when my (sort of) generation was gone. Hardly know any name, is Kasai still going?

Yeah, he's a contender. It'd be undoubtedly good for the game to see him win the whole thing.

Kasai winning the Four Hills title would be like Haas winning a slam.

Great, I'll try to follow it definitely. Winning the whole thing would be really far out, but even one podium finish would be awesome.

I would cancel the rule that prequalified 10 is not required to jump. Prevc is now against Ammann isntead of Rowley...the same with Schlierenzauer and Kasai. I never liked that rule. Even if they all will advance to second round that means that 3 of the 5 lucky losers are gone.

Kasai was already jumping when i started watching ski jumping in 1995 i think

Funaki was the best japanese back then. Unfortunately for him that period cokehead Goldberger was unbeatable

Funaki won the whole thing in 1997 iirc, he was awesome.

Yeah, Funaki was awesome, especial his style. But from Japanese jumpers, Harada was my favorite.

If it were tennis he would've been a basher. Either killing it or sucking badly.

Okabe´s career was also pretty interesting, retired only last season and I think he was the one who held the title for the oldest winner before Kasai.

Kraft, Prevc, and Hayböck were able to build some gap in Oberstdorf. Stoch was good, too, especially given his comeback. Fannemel, Koudelka, and Kasai need six perfect jumps now, Freund and Schlierenzauer seem to be out already now. And Ammann still won't win the Four Hills.
