You have been working on this jinx for so long. I am starting to believe you might pull it out.

Fed-Murray- new favorite match up for the draw riggers.

Peculiar, indeed. Yes, it's a tough draw for Fed (but not something extreme), but if he feels up for it (and I don't yet see why he shouldn't), he should surely give it a try. There's no point in dumping 1000 ranking points down the drain and giving up on a slight chance of staying #1 YER right away just on the sight of a 'tough' draw and I'm pretty sure that's not the way the mind of a great champion in any sport works.

There's no guarantee that the 'other' players who have a shot at this title will manage to come through all of their matches either. I've seen plenty of occasions where 'tough' draws opened up like orchids in the past... and the opposite of that happening as well.

We'll see.

the point is the WTF (and a 31-year old guy).
I wonder when Fed last has played 3 hardcourt tournaments 3 weeks in a row and I think he has never won 3 indoor hardcourt tournaments 3 weeks in a row.

And the priority is the WTF.

PS : I'm of course not surprised at all by your reaction, in other circumstances you would have said "how dumb this guy is with his bad scheduling ?" as you've said 10 thousand times, especially about Nadal

Still, why dump all those points beforehand? Better to just see how it panns out. If Fed feels there's no point in playing beyond, say, the QF, pretty sure he'll know it himself and won't overexert himself.

Nadal is, as you should know, a very different case compared to Federer when it comes to being prone to injuries, in Nadal's case even worse when a tournament is played on indoor HC.
In contary, Federer thrives on this kind of a surface, combined with the fact that he barely ever overplays during a season. If Fed would have thought that playing Paris was a bad idea right from the start (and he KNEW he'd have to play three tournaments in a row right from the moment the tournament schedule came out), he'd never have put it in his schedule already nearly a year ago.

Comparing Fed's and Nad's situations when it comes to planning which tournaments to play and which not, is like comparing apples and oranges.

Methinks the winner of this tournament is between the two players going at it as I type.

Federer is not going to Paris: "It's too much for me". He needs time to prepare for WTF
Not confirmed by the tournament yet though...

Djokovic is officially the YE n°1 with Federer out of Bercy, and has a good draw now to won another MS.
Congrats to him for his incredible year which would have been perfect with a win at RG or USO
