Default Bernard Tomic at 20, slamless and title-less.

So much hype for the kid to be a phenom in his younger years. After winning AO junior at 15 and practically winning all Orange Bowl titles, many put their bets on him to be the next teen slam champion. Yet, at 20, he has only reached one slam QF, and not even any ATP finals with a W-L record of 43-45

I have no doubt that he is a very talented player, but I can't help wondering how someone of his junior achievement struggles to breakthrough in the senior field.

He's too young to play on the Champions Tour. He isn't quite good enough either...

Tomic is yet another overhyped player from generation MUG. His game consists of pathetic junkballing, his serve sucks, his movement sucks, he has no power beyong his strokes. Worst thing, however, is that he doesn't seem to give a shit about the sport. He's been told so many times how "talented" he is that he actually started believing in it and thinking that this "talent" will carry him to big titles and high ranks. His best bet is to wait until all the big boys retire and then and only then will he able to do something of importance along with other tennis juggernauts like Sock, Goffin, Young, Harrison and Dimitrov - I'd say Tomug fits quite snugly into such a promising wave of new players

He is talented..but he refuses to move around the court. I have seen so many balls fly past him that players like nadal, nole and ferrer would have hit back with interest ..
Till he does that, he ain't gonna win. Talent is no substitute for hard work.

Who the fuck expected him to win Slams at his age? lolololol.

Not winning titles though is pretty dire.

Donald Young was hyped just as much if not more, wasn't he? Should be reason enough to leave the 15-year-olds alone, give them time to develop. Huge expectations do not appear to help them.

He should have been able to win at least some 250 titles to get somewhere, but I also think that he is beyond over-hyped. not even sure where it's coming from. it ain't MTF. I guess Ozzies having a great tennis tradition, need desperately a new star. I don't think Tomic is the one.

we all joke about personalities when it comes to different players ... I read so much about Tomic, and he still strikes me as a spoiled brat.

I agree with u all, I also think tomic is not talented to win a slam and even if he was, he is lazy and not hungry for tennis.

It looks like he is passing the time...

Not wining anything until 20 years old is ok but not reaching to a F or something?

The pathetic excuse that "he's still young, give him a break" is slowly dying.

Didn't he say he will make Grand Slam before he turn 18 or something like that?

he actually did. the thing is he said too many stupid things. do some google research and you'll find out.

it's one thing to be confident but it's another thing to be arrogant when you can't back it up (I'm against any kind of arrogance btw). talk is cheap and Tomic is good at it. oh, I'll do this or that, oh ... I just got a great new car ... whatever

My birthday is on the the same day as Tomic's. But hopefully he'll have a GS by the time he's 28.

Not winning slams isn't something to worry about, not many players are even close to winning one. However, repeatedly tanking in matches where he had nothing to lose and everything to gain, and saying how he's tired though he was routinely going out in the first rounds isn't a direction he should be taking, unless he wants to become Australian Young

He's still younger than MTF's top contenders so there is little to worry about at this stage.
