Well of course winning here is more important than playing in Paris, but it will be great to see him play next week as well But if he doesn't what better finish to the season than a match with his idol Federer

A better finish would be to beat Federer and keep on winning.

The only bad thing is that he will have to skip the Paris Masters, because he has to start from qualies, but if he wins today - on Saturday he will play Roger. There's one SE spot in the Masters, but I think he need to play a final in Basel to get it and I don't think he will get a WC as well So most probably a win today, means he will finish the season tomorrow with the match against Roger ... unless he beat him

why?
the only other candidates for a SE were goffin, paire, mathieu and dodig.
goffin lost, paire will hopefully lose as well as mathieu and dodig might also play a challenger (he could lose, too, of course). So if he wins he will be the only candidate for a SE

Re: Grigor in Basel
5-2 up, with Mathieu serving to stay in the set. Dimi serving up bombs at the moment, keep it up!

Re: Grigor in Basel
Ouch! Run of errors from Grisho and a run of good play from Mathieu. Our man drops the first set 6-7(2).

Re: Grigor in Basel
He needs to tighten up his game and stop dropping serve after he has broken

Re: Grigor in Basel
Eek, pretty huge implosion now, crazy errors and losing focus. He needs to turn it round quick, or this one is over =[
