As much as Cilic's shortcomings and mental meltdowns against the top guys are highlighted, he has mostly only been losing to them in the biggest events this year. In almost every Slam and M1000 it has taken one of the current top 3 or Del Potro to take him out (in Slams, Delpo in FO, Murray in W and USO, didn't play AO, most recent Masters Nole in Cincy, Fed in Shanghai). In a tournament where the guys qualified for the WTF are bound to skip or tank, you have to fancy his chances.
Cilic is no match for top players. Raonic is serve-only and Isner too. If a guys returns half of the first serve, the match is over. And Djokovic, Federer and Murray can do that with ease.
plus, to win it, Cilic being a top 16, must beat a top 4 then a top 4 then a top 4. so in the better case: Ferrer, then Federer then Djokovic. He will lose in QF to a top 8, like Raonic, like Isner.

Only two MS champs left and out of the two I only see Tsonga busting a gut to try and win it, being his home event.

This prediction is looking good.

Worth noting that since 2003 this tournament has had a different winner each year, that's pretty fucking incredible.

At the end of today the draw could easily look like:
Top half - Simon, Berdych, Janowicz, Tipsarevic
Bottom half - Ferrer, Tsonga, Del Potro, Raonic

That top half is pretty much a dream for a MS event.

Either Tsonga or non-WTF contestant (ie first time winner) I hope.

Ferrer is a vulture, so hopefully someone beats him (Wawrinka or Tsonga) while Berdych and Tipsy should get their asses down to London asap.

Tipsy hasn't qualified yet, so he better stay on course.

Well, Raonic just lost his match. If, as expected, Jo beats Almagro now, Tipsy will be qualified.

Some of you are crazy.

The winner here takes 1000 points. If anyone thinks Tsonga, Berdych or Tipsarevic should or is going to tank they might as well just shut up right now since it's more likely they'll gain more points here than in London anyway.

Still, this is a great opportunity to win a Masters event. They can't all win the WTFs. Would be silly to just throw it away, especially since their chances next week probably aren't great.

Hoping for Berdych or Del-Po. Most others would be a real shame.

Bar Tipsy though, their ranking/seeding status (5-8) isn't under threat at all. Berdych and Tsonga especially have at least an outside shot at going all the way in London and should definitely try their best there.

That said, Berdych did get his best Slam results playing the week before so it might actually be beneficial for him to go all the way to the final here for confidence purposes.
