Re: Berdych's service motion is so cool!!
Very efficient and effective. Only limitation is that it flies long at times, particularly in pressure moments, because of that high ball toss.

Re: Berdych's service motion is so cool!!
His serve is the last thing i would say i like about Tbird's game tbh
This unorthodox uber high toss is not what i would call pretty and it's quite dangerous for himself. Of course he's mastered it enough to have no major issues with it, but you wouldn't teach a kid tossing this high for sure.
The rest of the motion is just standard imo, nothing impressive nor pretty overall.
Fed's motion's been perhaps the most fluent and flawless of them all, but i believe Fed's serve has been way too low in speed lately, he's slicing/spinning/kicking the ball way too much and it doesn't have that much efficiency of late.
Andy Roddick's serve motion has always been my favorite overall. Perfect toss, short opening of the racquet, perfect rotation of the upper part of the body, my fav grip (one of the things i dislike in Tbird, Soder and Tsonga), explosive arm movement - all perfect.
Compared to Roddick's explosion of a serve, Tbird's slow-mo is far from being so great in my opinion.
A matter of taste ofc

Re: Berdych's service motion is so cool!!
It's actually the opposite. Your serve has more chance of going long with a low toss because you have less time to get the racket head through.

Re: Berdych's service motion is so cool!!
Obviously the higher the ball, the harder to sync all the movement. Serve is the tennis shot, which movement includes the most muscles, so with the pressure it takes much less to mishit it, compared to shorter ball toss.
As an example - which smatch is easier - the one the ball comes from high or not that high? It's obvious and that's why most times you would let the ball bounce and hit it when it comes from lower height.
But normally at such level you have your serve encoded in your genes, so it might have been an issue for him when he was a junior, but now it doesn't really matter.

Yes, well in layman's terms, you have more time to explode upwards and obtain the desired racket head angle when hitting through the ball, as well as potentially having more space over the net.

Berdshit's ball toss is way too high. Probably a product of Czech indoor courts where wind plays no role.
