Jelena has found this article. Just thought it might interest Dudi's fans as well.

Hot Ram wins again

From The Jewish Chronicle

Simon Griver
October 30, 2008

Tennis Andy Ram, Israel's most successful player, claimed his 15th title after pairing up with Frenchman Michael Llodra to win the men's doubles at the Lyon Grand Prix.

The victory was Ram's second in three weeks after winning the Vienna Trophy with Max Mirnyi of Belarus. Next week, he will team up with Brazilian Bruno Soares at the Paris Masters.

Fellow Israeli Jonathan Erlich, his regular partner, this week returned to full training in a bid to get fit for the end of season Shanghai Masters for the world's top eight doubles seeds starting November 10.
Erlich, 31, has been sidelined with an injured elbow for two months but dismissed rumours that he is contemplating retirement.

"I love tennis and love playing tennis and still feel I have a lot of goals to achieve, even though we are ranked number three in the world," he said. "I can't wait to get back. I'll certainly be there with Andy in Melbourne in January defending our Australian Open title.

"These past few months have been difficult but it's made me very happy to see Andy doing so well without me."

Ram is only eligible to play in Shanghai with Erlich and the Israeli pair have a major financial incentive to be in China with appearance fees of $25,000 each and $7,500 for every victory.

Shahar Peer has appointed the Peruvian Pablo Giacopelli as her new coach, her third of the year. Peer has had a disastrous year slipping from 19 to 38 in the WTA rankings.

Dudi Sela (86) has withdrawn from the remaining tournaments this year through tiredness.

Seems that Dudi has changed his mind. He played Dnepropetrovsk last week where he made a second round exit after losing to Stefan Koubek.

He will be playing Helsinki this week. His first round opponent is Dawid Olejniczak of Poland.

Dudi's quarter:
[8] KOROLEV, Evgeny RUS vs MARCHENKO, Ilia UKR
GALVANI, Stefano ITA vs [WC] DONSKOY, Evgeny RUS
BECK, Karol SVK vs PEYA, Alexander AUT
OLEJNICZAK, Dawid POL vs [4] SELA, Dudi ISR

It's a bit strange that he chose to play Helsinki over Yokohama, isn't it? He is currently ranked 91st in the world rankings.

Wow were you there? How was it?

Sadly Dudi lost tday . Really awful loss, I think I've heard he was sick, but it's sad he's so inconssistnet..With this loss he'll have to play AO qualies next year, hopefully we won't see any stupid loss to a lower ranked player there.
Dudi has finished his season for now. Rest Dudi, and come back with more strength please. Kadima Dudi, we love you

There is no need to worry. Last year, the cut-off ranking for the direct entry into the main draw was 103.

Yup, I saw his both matches
Against Olejniczak (sorry, can't write it) he played really well, yesterday he was quite awful Seemed that everytime he broke back, he lost his serve again.

Shame that he lost, he's such a sweetie

Good luck for the next season

Sela falls out of top-100

Nov 25, 2008 6:13 | Updated Nov 25, 2008 6:21
By JERUSALEM POST SPORTS STAFF

Dudi Sela dropped out of the world's top-100 for the first in over a year on Monday, falling to number 109 in the ATP rankings.

The 23-year-old broke into the world's top-100 last October and was ranked as high as 57th seven months ago.

However, early exits in the Challenger tournaments in Seoul, Dnepropetrovsk and Helsinki in the last three weeks, resulted in an 18 place drop in Monday's rankings.

Sela, who played his last match of the year in Helsinki last week, now faces the prospect of not playing in next year's Australian Open qualifiers, as only the world's top 104 players enter the main draw automatically.

================================================== ========

Dudi has obviously had a very tough year. Things don't seem to go exactly well.
Hope he has an opportunity to make a comeback in 2009.

Sinai Says: Sela at a crossroads

Dec 3, 2008 7:04 | Updated Dec 3, 2008 7:10
By ALLON SINAI

This was supposed to be Dudi Sela's year.

After finishing 2007 in the best form of his life and beginning 2008 at number 64 in the world, the 23-year-old was expected to finally realize his potential this year and cement his place among the globe's top-50 players.

On Monday, however, Sela dropped to 112th in the ATP rankings, his lowest position since last September.

By failing to defend the many ranking points he picked up at the end of last season, Sela has fallen 53 places in just six weeks and has effectively set himself back more than a year.

All the progress Dudi made in the last 18 months now counts for almost nothing, and his new ranking means he will begin 2009 in a very awkward position.

With just the world's top 104 players automatically clinching spots for the main draw of January's Australian Open, Sela will now, in all likelihood, need to play in the tournament's qualifiers and will have to win four matches just to reach the second round of the Grand Slam, as he did in 2008.

Sela will also have to qualify for much smaller ATP tournaments next year after failing to make the most of the automatic main draw entries he received to these events this past year.

In 22 top tier ATP tournaments this season, Sela only progressed past the second round twice, reaching the third round at the Masters Series event in Miami in March and progressing to the final of the Beijing tournament in September.

That week in China showed exactly what Dudi is capable of, and makes his recent demise all that more frustrating.

Sela swept aside world No. 5 David Ferrer, Tommy Robredo (16) and Rainer Schuettler (35) on consecutive days in Beijing, and in the final, came within one set of beating 8th ranked Andy Roddick to become the first Israeli in 15 years to win an ATP title.

His exquisite play in the Chinese capital proved once again that, indeed, Sela has the ability needed to compete with the world's top players, but his performance during the entire year showed that he lacks the consistency to become a leading player himself.

Sela's rollercoaster form will result in him playing far more second-tier Challenger tournaments than he would like in 2009 and leaves him with plenty of work to do to get his career back to the place it was 12 months ago.

At just 23, all is far from lost for Dudi, but even for him time is running out.

Unless he can play at his best on a regular basis he will never become a top-50 player and will sadly go down in history as just another wasted potential.

================================================== ========

Harsh sentences for Dudi here. I don't know if he needs to hear lots of complaints right now. He needs cheering up, I reckon.
