Does it feel weird to have tournaments after the US Open?
Does it feel weird to you?
To me the US Open seems like the annual finale. I feel it should be the last tournament of the year.
To have tournaments afterwards seems a little awkward.
It's like the encore after the main setlist at a concert.
What do you think?

Well from my experience encores are usually quite good, and it does end in the biggest ATP event, the World Tour Finals.

Re: Does it feel weird to have tournaments after the US Open?
then be glad as it seems that your wish will be (nearly) fulfilled thanks to Nadal and Djokovic in next years.
I've been used to something else since I followed tennis last 30 years, but well if youngsters want it to be done this way
I also think probably some feel weird that there are tournaments in such a "weird" continent as Asia , judging by the constant comments on that every year

Reason: language mistake : weird, not awkward

I agree; it is a little weird, since every other professional sport seemingly culminates with its largest event, like the Super Bowl for American football, the World Series for baseball, etc.
Tennis is just weird like that: four large events, with smaller events in between AND after But I enjoy it, nonetheless.

Re: Does it feel weird to have tournaments after the US Open?
ummm... no. tennis's offseason is so short, it's practically a year round sport.
Also, most sports end their season with some kind of big championship (Stanley Cup, Superbowl). Difference is -- it's their only big championship. Tennis has 4 majors.
Also, there's more to tennis than the majors.

Tennis is practically a year round sport. The off-season is the only thing that feels weird

Nothing feels weird if it has $$$$$ written all over it.
Oh wait, we can make more money with more tournaments. We should stop though, take a month 4 break to spend it all first.

Re: Does it feel weird to have tournaments after the US Open?
Not really. USO is pretty much the worst slam so I'd find it weird if the season ended with it

Ditto!
And ditto the comment about tennis being more than just about the majors.
Love the Asian swing, love indoor play, love all-year-round tennis!

I like indoor season, but something is lacking.
We need an Asian Slam!
