Re: Tokyo F: Nishikori bagels Raonic 7-6(5) 3-6 6-0
the only way cilic reaches 5 sets is if he heroically decides to fight back from 2 sets down then choke the match away

Fuck yes! Always good when Kei wins and Raonic loses (I don't dislike Raonic, but I hate his gamestyle)

The sooner these two are in the top 10 the better tennis will be. They're legit top 10 quality unlike the likes of Mugaco and Scrubcki. Despite the result I think Milos will go higher.

Based on what? Kei is clearly the more talented player of two, serving is basically the only thing Milos does better. And while Kei will never serve like Milos or even remotely, his serve does have margin to improve.

Serving could be key especially for an attacking player. You wonder if Fed would have continued to stay at the top of the game with these super-fit grinders if he couldn't serve his way to cheap points.
Raonic has enough ground game and talent to win return games. I like Kei but not sure if he can win cheap points on serve and also he can be erratic sometimes still. I hope they both get to the top though.

True, Milos's serve is a huge weapon, but especially on the current slow surfaces that can only take him so far. Kei has much more to his game imo: he's an exceptional returner, moves great and is a far more solid and creative shotmaker than Milos, not to mention he does quite well at the net too. As you saw in this final, as soon as a rally started it was all Kei. If he's already this good without getting any free points on serve, just imagine how good he will be when he beefs up his serve a bit, which is certainly achievable.
I do agree that it'd be nice to see both rise to the top 10 and then even higher though. Milos's brand of big serving tennis with aggressive groundstrokes belongs at the top too, but I do believe Kei is a far more complete talent with a higher ceiling.

Kori has much more game than Raonic, the proof lies within a bagel.

Exactly, it is stereotyping and ignorant to say things like that...But those Japanese teenagers weren't being televised nationally which makes it ten times worse Epic fail if you were trying to defend Muglos

EEEEGGSCELLENT!
What a year. Chelsea champions of Europe, NASA landing on Mars and now Nishi winning Tokyo 500 - saved the best til last.

Hopefully this will pave the way for more tournaments in Japan. The people are so classy and the economy very strong. If Nishi can reach top 10 (*touch wood*) Japan might develop some 250s and maybe even a 1000, which would be wonderful for the game.

A post from you that I agree with.

Times have changed. Courts are slow enough for big servers to get overwhelmed by big returners. Ferrer is having his best year at the age of 30 while Isner and Karlovic are moving backwards.
Nishi's biggest weakness will be his long term fitness. He hasn't spent more than 12 months without getting a serious injury. Recovering from long lay-offs will always be a problem.
