I know that a trip is tiring, but I don't think it may really affect the knee (I guess Monfils travels in "business class"
), I'd rather think it's playing which affects it most.
That's why I'd rather share your opinion that he might have avoided playing the week after (rather than playing challengers), but well he and his team and doctors know better than me
I think you're too harsh when you say you "don't feel sorry for him" whereas you don't know all the elements. But you're not the only one I've read saying that
Anyway, I think people should feel sorry for a guy who may be not very sensible but who is very enthusiastic. A surgery would be disastrous for him when he's in his prime years as it might keep him out of court for long.
