Re: DC SF: Ferrer def. Isner 6-7(3) 6-3 6-4 6-2
Now comes the big question, since Spain will be in the F on 11/16-18, will Rafa now play in it or not?

As much as I want him to return, I don't want him to take Almagro's place in the team.

They can win without Rafa. It's not really a concern in my opinion.
But as a fan I hope he will be back by then.

It's the only event Rafa could/should play realistically for the rest of the 2012 season. It's going to be in Spain on Rafa's beloved red clay. Whereas the other events for the rest of the year will be on hard courts (some outdoors, mostly indoors and Rafa hasn't had much success that time of the year ever).

Nope. it's gonna be away, either in Czech Rep or Argentina.
Needless to say both countries will lay the iciest of the ice rink for Spain
I guess it was time that the great pairing of Sexy Radek and Berdman to win a DC, they deserve one for their dedication.

Re: DC SF: Ferrer def. Isner 6-7(3) 6-3 6-4 6-2
Well then, if it's going to be at the Czech Republic or Argentina instead, especially if the Czech Republic, they will likely choose a tougher surface for Spain (i.e. hard courts indoors or grass even, but most likely due to the time of the year indoor hard courts). Then it would be better for Rafa not to play it then and wait until Abu Dhabi at the earliest (12/27-29/12). Rafa might even play in Doha as usual, but if not Abu Dhabi or Doha, I fully expect him to play in the 2013 AO.

No thread about one of the best Davis Cup players in history and decissive round but three or four about irrelevant subjects.
This is what MTF has changed into, I still remember when this forum was serious but those years are already gone.

They cant use Carpet if it's not played on on Tour, me thinks
But it's gonna be indoor. And it's gonna be fast.

Carpet can still be used
It's also still used in Challengers for example
Davis Cup follows different rules

Re: DC SF: Ferrer def. Isner 6-7(3) 6-3 6-4 6-2
Spain beat the Czechs on very fast taraflex carpet in their 2004 1st round tie in Brno.
That tie saw Nadal made his debut in the competition. He lost on the opening day to cheery Jiri Novak, the only defeat of his career in a singles Davis Cup rubber. The Czechs were 2-1 up going into the final day, before López beat Berdych and a 17 year old Nadal won the decisive rubber against Stepanek on one of the fastest surfaces he has ever set played on.
Ferrer now has a 16-3 career win-loss record in live Davis Cup rubbers, with 8 victories in a row and 12 wins out of 12 at home in Spain. Impressive stuff.

45 more effective ranking points for Ferrer with this victory. He's 40 points away from a total of 6000.
