Re: M.Muzza.M Chat - Showdown in Shanghai
Decent match, more of a step back for Andy with his style of play today. Wasn't aggressive very often, but knows how to play Dolgo. Strange to see him slamming racquets more often now that he has a slam. Must be the added expectations thing.
Smexynek is the next victim. He's been on good form this tournament, but Andy generally likes playing against his style of player.

THAT MATCH. That remains my favourite from attending the AO this year. I was actually planning to be at Rod Laver that evening but then I was all "NO MUST SEE MURRAY" and my tour guide lady managed to give me a front row seat and it was awesome.

Roger Oh I don't like this Match up! Andy has not been playing well plus he has gone back to his old on court bad behavior

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat - Showdown in Shanghai
A classic Murray match: Curses, winces, stupid shot making, and yet he gets it done in the end.
Of course he needs to play better against Roger.

Eep- I'm really worried. I don't think Andy will win this unless he suddenly plays a lot better than he has.

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat - Showdown in Shanghai
Why worry? He already won Shanghai twice, his ranking is safe and he wouldn't be getting to #1 or #2 this year anyway. All good. If he loses this, then so be it. At least it won't be to a mug.
That said, come on Andy!

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat - Showdown in Shanghai
Andy won 64 64
Sounds like an anodyne score but it was a bit of a crazy match - Andy always the better player Roger had moments of brilliance and a LOT of mess, including those 3 DFs in a row to be broken in game 5 of the first set

And a huge break in the Match because it started to rain and it took for forever to close that roof! And next up is Nole And for some reason I keep wanting to type his name as Noel! I had better not do that in GM

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat - Showdown in Shanghai
Great stuff.
It was more painful to watch than a 6-4 6-4 routine job should have been, but you can't control the weather or what the opponent does.
Congrats to Andy, now go get that title.

I didn't know whether to or at how this match unfolded. Shakespeare would've at all the drama.

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat - Showdown in Shanghai
I liked it. Always feel comfortable when Andy is secure on serve, even if he isn't taking full advantage of his numerous break point opportunities.
Combine that with some of his best returning of the year and you have a nice tasty Swiss stew.
