Re: The Wire is the best TV-series ever
Btw, David Simon, creator of the The Wire, has said that Buffy is the best TV show ever. Man's got it right.

Re: The Wire is the best TV-series ever
If you like a good police show, check out "The Shield". It's more fast paced than The Wire but almost as good.

Re: The Wire is the best TV-series ever
I'm a big fan of anything David Simon does really, I love Treme almost as much.

All among my favorites too. The Wire surpasses them all for me but that's splitting hairs really.

 He really said that?
Buffy is certainly up there. It is a victim of genre bias though, so it gets dismissed or just ignored.

The Shield is a thrilling ride indeed. Just don't go in expecting The Wire.

Whatever you think of the two shows, they are distinctive enough for this to be nonsense.

It's a shame we only get a measly five episodes to wrap the show up.

The Wire stole/recycled most of its good stuff from HLOTS. Just because hipsters like you saw the Wire first doesn't make it better.

Either way, The Wire did it wayyyy better. Saying it's a poor man's HLOTS is like saying Rafael Nadal is a poor man's Albert Ramos.

Re: The Wire is the best TV-series ever
I have never seen such intricate character building than in the Wire, it's superb.

I thought the season 3 finale wrapped up most of the characters' stories nicely, though there are a few plot strands that are unresolved.

Yeah.. that experiment was something.

Yes, he did:
"We thought some prolonged arguments about what kind of country we've built might be a good thing, and if such arguments and discussions ever happen, we will feel more vindicated in purpose than if someone makes an argument for why The Wire is the best show in years. ("Buffy," by the way, was the correct answer to that particular bracketfest.)"
