Josep Perlas, que hace apenas unos días formaliizó amigablemente el fin de su relación profesional con Albert Costa, ha tenido en los últimos años la responsabilidad técnica de dos jugadores: Costa, con el que ganó Roland Garros, y Carlos Moyà, con el que asumió la primera posición mundial además de un título en la capital parisina. Desde el 2000, Perlas es uno de los capitanes de los populares G-3 y G-4 del equipo español de Copa Davis.

It's what GWH calls the "Argentine coaching dance". What has happened Coria's old coach Markus was so outraged by the fact that Coria is going to play TMC, as Gaby had quite a promising career cut short by injury and spoke from experience and Coria chose to ignore sound advice. Now Markus is coaching Calleri.

Coria ran out of coaches in Argentina and is now looking to Spain.

At the risk of even MORE bad reps from Coria fans , young Guillermo is extraordinarily difficult to work with. He is very opinionated and won't take advice from those professionals hired to help him - if they disagree with him the partnership ends up splitting. As Marc says, that is why his relationship with Gaby Markus ended so abruptly. I've heard some rumours that Markus resigned to spend more time with his (heavily pregnant) wife, - but that's b******* or else he wouldn't have gone straight on to work with Calleri. Likewise Mancini - who was supposed to have left to spend more time with his family and then went straight back "on the road" with Nico Lapentti.

talented people are often a pain in the ass to work with. it takes a coach with tons of patience to connect with them. Perlas has nice credentials -- let's see how long he lasts.

He coached both Moya (since he was pretty young) and Costa (until this week).

He was also close to training Verdasco this year but he preferred Coria's possibility.

He'll keep being a membet of the Spanish G.3, though.

I'd love to see Guille with a stable coaching relationship, and we will see what happens here. I don't think Guille has suffered a great deal from changing coaches. His problems seem to have more to do with his body breaking down and his mental state. He seems to want to work with Gil Reyes very badly and Reyes shows some willingness to work with him also.

The Argentine tennis scene seems to be a huge soap opera with a lot of back biting, rivalries, gossip, and general bitichiness. Maybe it's better for Coria to have a foreign coach and step away from that overheated enviornment. Whatever works for Coria, I support.

Thanks Laury And GWH is just our short name for George WHitler who posts here on MTF a lot. The Argentine players seem to have a habit of changing coaches a lot and usually swapping amongst themselves (for example - Gaby Markus went from Nalbandian, to Chela, to Coria, to Calleri!), so he calls their continual swapping around the "coaching dance" because people are always changing partners. Just a joke really - hope that explains it.
