Not to undermine the other thread, but I figured we should have one open to discuss each and any member of this newest generation. Keep track of them, share thoughts on them, so on and so forth.

As I see it, the following players best represent the latest crop:

1. Kei Nishikori. Born: December 29, 1989 (age 22)
Titles: 2 (Tokyo 2012, Deleay 2008)

2. Milos Raonic. Born: December 27, 1990 (age 21)

7. Jack Sock: Reached the third round of the USO this year. Looks like he's got a few solid weapons-in-progress at just 20 years old.

8. Jerzy Janowicz: Already ranked #64 and he hasn't even been on tour a full year. He has had great success in challengers, and made it to the third round of Wimbledon this year, losing to F. Mayer in five.

The scary thing is that the 90-92 generation did so much better as teenagers then the 93-95s are doing.

If 90-92 is the sleeper generation the 93-95 seems to be the inexistent generation. There is absolutely nothing to talk about for players aged 17-19, we all were talking about Dimitrov, Nishikori, Tomic and Harrison when they were coming up aged 17-18.

I can see Djokovic and Murray extending their peak years close to 30 with improved medical treatment and in that case they will rack up many slams once Federer and Nadal are definitely done.

It's a bit early to write them off. Connors reached 10 at the age of 21, the equivalent for Milos would be the upcoming French Open. Connors was also the only one of his generation who did anything (the next previous one being Stan Smith in 1947. So Raonic still has another 6 months to move up to the top 10 to keep with Connor's career pace which is still very possible.

Raonic also made 4R at AO '11 and Berankis made 3R at the same tourny, not 2012. And yeh, you might as well add Janowicz.

Raonic is 22 and is nr15, so he is lagging behind Connors, but more than anything Raonic is hardly the thickheaded obsessive fighter that was Connors, cant see the same career path there.

That's why I said "we'll see", and that they're underwhelming as of "now". Who was I writing off?

I believe this generation faces a particularly unique predicament in that they're entering the pro tour when it's more physical than ever. It's rather common these days that younger players, unless truly extraordinary (see Djokovic, to a lesser extent, Murray), need time to adjust to the physical and mental demands of the tour. One of the reasons I think Raonic has sprung up so early is because he's physically more mature than his peers, some of whom may actually be more "gifted" in some respects.

Corrected Berankis' year, and added Milos' second R16. The reason why I didn't add Janowicz is because he hasn't even had a full year on tour yet, but he definitely deserves a spot on the bubble at least.
