French tennis is really the equivalent of England in football.
When you know how important that sport is in this country (number of players, money invested,etc...) and if you consider how many Davis Cups they've won for the last 25 years, it's quite ridiculous that none of their male players was capable of winning even a single GS for the last 30 years!!
I'd say their GS malediction is even worse than Great Britain's malediction (which is not anymore thanks Murray) considering the ressources they put on this sport and the number of players they have.
Tennis in Great Britain is nowhere near as important and practiced as it is in France, despite what the English media and press would make you think.

Davis Cup should never have really mattered in the GOAT discussion anyway since it's a team event. If you're talking about the GOAT singles player then you should mainly look at individual results. If some unknown talent came out of some random tiny country (no chance to win DC) and won 20 slams, no one would give a single shit if that player didn't have DC. The fact is, success in DC is largely determined by what country you come from or play for in the first place, which most players haven't had any control over.
