Yes
Maine and Maryland have both voted to allow same sex marriage This is the first time it has been on the ballot and won. Every other time it was defeated.
In Wisconsin, they elected the first openly gay/lesbian senator to office
It was also on the ballot in Washington state and is leading there, but as I recall, their voting on this issue wasn't done at the polls it was done only by mail-in ballot? So I think that's still being calculated.
And in Minnesota they were voting on a ban of same-sex marriage which was defeated. It's still not legal, but it has not been banned, so that's a victory as well

Awesome! Specially impressed about the gay/lesbian senator I had no idea they were voting for these as well! So after this same-sex marriage will be legal in how many states?

Thanks for explaining me
Still a minority But progress is progress
Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont allowed same sex marriage before, so then if it passes in those 3 states it makes 9.
Civil Unions are performed in: California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island and Wisconsin. Washington and Maine also performed them, but now they are in the marriage category

Meh, what a truly dreadful day.
So bad that I'm going to go out for evening. I'll be back later, but the main reason I popped in, is it looks like Djokovic has won, Raquel. You win our bet.
Just post the photo and I will change it when I get back later.

I blame the Supreme Court that insists that giving money is equivalent to free speech and can't be curbed. Ridiculous.

People want politicians who put politics aside to get things done. Candidate Romney couldn't have done ANYTHING for New Jersey except volunteer if he wanted or donate his personal fortune if he wanted, just like any private citizen. That Chris Christie put politics aside to put the people of NJ first, and develop a sound working relationship with Obama on this issue IS WHAT PEOPLE CLAIM THEY WANT. I also saw an absolutely disgusting use of the n-word on Twitter and around the Internet by Romney supporters and some of them are young people. My age. How anyone my age is using the n-word nowadays. Disappointing, disgusting.
Chris Christie was the golden boy of the Republican party before Hurricane Sandy, after Ohio was declared and pundits were dissecting the party's options in the future I heard NO ONE talk about Chris Christie as a rising star anymore.
Romney lost this election because a) wrong VP choice, b) increasing extremism in his party, c) outdated views on social issues, d) lack of ability to connect with Latino voters. There is no e) Chris Christie.
Also all I can do is at everyone complaining about the electoral college, because it was cool with them in 2000 when Bush beat Gore but lost the popular vote, plus Obama has popular vote now too, so Donald Trump this is for you. Short memories people.
Anyway, this is my last political post, I just had to get it off my chest and the NT threads scare me
We love you and you can rant anytime to us. Btw, did you see the saturday night live Christie thing?

Home of the progressive movement. It has a historical connection to a working man's progressive liberalism. Also Madison is probably the most liberal town in the U.S. Home of the Weathermen.
