Does the United States' performance at Paralympics say anything about US healthcare?
The United States is 6th on the 2012 London Paralympics medal tally, weeks after dominating the able-bodied Olympic games.
Does this reflect upon the ability of the United States to care for their most vulnerable, or it's healtch care all round?
Discuss.

I can't believe this thread.  US and several countries in Western Europe are by far the best in this regard. I have no words to describe the differences in the way society treats people with disabilities in these countries compared to the rest of the world. |

Paralympics is a bit special. It's not like a country gain much propaganda value from huge success at paralympics. You don't see China putting their disabled 3 year olds in special training schools to take medals....I think.......now I just need to go take a look at the medal count....

That's exactly what I thought!
To be completely frank, without doing any real research or anything I just assumed that China would be the kind of country that sort of dismisses? it's most vulnerable and the United State the opposite. The medal tally really surprised me.
How is this explained?

There is no money to be made off paraolympics. It has nothing to do with health care it has to do with profit. No profit = no promotion = no olympic ambitions. People with disabilities get preferntial treatment in the US so dont worry about them. They are well taken care of.
