not at all. his game is pretty interesting and has lots of variety, something severely lacking in today's era. he does need to improve the footwork a lot, though.

okay.. sorry for the mixed-up.
But my comment still stand: I challenged piggygotroasted's opinion who claimed Tomic really did try.

That's true. Especially on such a big stage in such a situation where the crowd is obviously rooting for your demise, it's not that surprising. The kid obviously has a lot of work to do on a lot of levels, but it's not that surprising how it worked out.

Re: Bernard Tomic SLAMMED by Rafter, Masur - may be left out of Davis Cup
IMO, tennis Australia shouldn't be so focused on only Tomic. There are other players with potential out there. Ebden for example. He's a nice guy with a pleasant game and a fighter. Only problem is he doesn't have any big weapons. But with time and training he would pay off much more than Tomic does. Matosevic also isn't bad, but he's kind of a crazy guy.

The fact Tomic is ranked higher is irrelevant.

I'm not an expert in "ability" and "talent" but from the results they had in their early carreer only, the Australians have had many promising youngsters, although not as talented as Tomic, who started well their adult carreer then their improvements stoppped miserably : Klein, Jones, Millman, Lindahl (now Swedish), Ball, Groth, Smeets, Todd Reid ...
I don't know how much hard work Tomic puts in, but I really don't think that all the ones I talked about made the most of their talent.
I don't like the way Tennis Australia talks about Tomic : putting every hope in only one player and making so much fuss and debate and advice about him is not good, it reminds me so much of the way Gasquet was considered in France, which surely didn't help him ... and in the end other players had better results (Tsonga, Monfils) (Australians have other promising youngsters the same age or younger than Tomic : Kubler, Saville, Duckworth, Mitchell)
Besides, as far as I know, Tomic took part in every DC encounter even when it was very far from where his other tournaments were, and he made good efforts there.
The fact that Rafter seems to use it as a threat that he might not be taken in the DC team quite proves that Davis cup is indeed important for Tomic
If they want to face Germany on clay with Ebden or Matosevic and an easily injured Hewitt, that's their choice, but I think they have less chance than with Tomic

Aussies are NOT afraid to say what is on their minds and personally I appreciate knowing the goods upfront and no ambiguity. Be honest with me I will be honest with you suits me 100%.
Sometimes kids need a good kick up the ass. Tomic should be no exception.

Tomic should tell them he's not playing, end all of the bull flying around.

I like the way a whole world dislikes-hates Tomic, with few exceptions of course. But it's his own fault.

Re: Bernard Tomic SLAMMED by Rafter, Masur - may be left out of Davis Cup
im no fan of tomic but you leave him out of the tie and you can basically just give the win to the germans. The match is hard enough as it is but i cant see them winning without him there
besides i really dont think it would damage him that much in the first place, only piss him off and then when they actually want him to play a tie he might decline. This could easily snowball into a bad situation if they leave him out

Tomic's attitude problem is that the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree.
