I wish the H2H wasn't so completely one-sided. The only chance Gasquet had was if Hewitt could battle Ferrer on the court for at least 4 tight sets. There were only 2 tight sets so it'll be business as usual for David. Ferrer in 3.

Tennis could only win here if both players announced their retirement after the match. I really can't decide what the lesser of two evils is in this matchup; maybe Ferrer, at least he's on the wrong side of 30 and won't be around much longer. Don't want to give Gascoke any confidence at all.

 Whats wrong with Gasquet?
Sadly Vulturrer will win this i think. Only because i don't see Gasquet being up for the 'fitness test', if he is Ferrer has no chance but sadly he won't be. Now Ferrer will make the quarter finals and all his annoying fans will proclaim how great he is in the slams.

Would love for Gasquet to prove me wrong but he will probably show up on a coke down and get picked apart easily.
Ferrer really is "the gatekeeper" separating mugs from talent, even more than he is the vulture, that so many people struggle with him is because the skill level is so pathetic nowadays. Instead of trying to beat him with tennis, these mugs try to outwork him, and the only guy capable of that is the freak of Mallorca.

They can proclaim whatever they want, but the numbers will show the cruel (for them) reality, which is that Ferrer has never set foot in a Slam final or won anything above 500 despite his inflated ranking and cakewalk draws, and that's not about to change any time soon or ever really. |
