Re: Rafael Nadal Injury/Health Update Thread : Spanish Press: Nadal not in DC etc
he had said for long that his "A plan" was to come back for the start of 2013 and it was obvious that it was tough to come back to play at once the WTF then I don't think this news deserves catastrophical conclusions.
He seems to stay steady on his plan, that's all.
What's more surprising to me is that he only withdraws now whereas from his words, he hasn't even started practising with the racket back, but well it comes from a guy who started 2012 season having not practised tennis in december 2011 and won Monte-Carlo after having only practised tennis for 3 days, then he's clearly not afraid of any sudden comeback.
There's still plenty of time before the start of 2013 season.

An injury is always psychological as well.
Would you run until your muscles tear? The brain sends signals informing the muscles to stop. You couldn't, even if you wanted to.
It takes a long mental as well as physical recovery period.

Come on, Nadal. We can understand your need to hide in shame after your cowardly display of bad sportsmanship and inept tennis against Rosol but emough is enough. Come play the WTF again--In times like these we need comedic relief.

So sad. I love watching nadal play in the YEC.
He always manages to skip several HC tournys but seldom withdraws from clay ones.....

Was Groove right after all ? The answer is obviously no. I still maintain Nadal comes back and wins 2 slams next year.

Tweet from journalist Matt Cronin:

Nadal not practicing yet. Running on anti-gravity machine he bought, takes 30 kilos of pressure off legs. No way he plays Davis Cup final
|
More on anti-gravity treadmills here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Gravity_Treadmill Would seem appropriate given his need to train but not stress the muscles too much...

Re: Rafael Nadal Injury/Health Update Thread : Spanish Press: Nadal not in DC etc
nadal has a compulsive need to have the attention and the spot light on him
i reckon it stems from that abusive upbringing from his uncle
regardless, he isn't doing shit at the AO. if he loses before the QF i genuinely would not be surprised
HOWEVER, at least he has found the foresight and the balls to play the south american clay swing
this, along with reduced emphasis on IW and Miami, will set him up to regain his mommentum during the clay season

Not the worst prediction in the world general. He seems to be up and down like that. After that 2009 slump he came back in a big way too.
