Rafa seems to be a bit nostalgic as he is recuperating...
This video was just posted in his Facebook page reminiscing about his matches with Roger Federer.

I remember all matches against Roger!

I'm not sure why, maybe it's the music, but it makes me a bit sad. I keep wondering how much longer we will be privileged to see these two titans of the game produce tennis like this. Ah well, life goes on and inevitably there will be others to bring out the best in each other and thrill our senses. Thanks for the memories...

According to a journalist from L'Equipe, the specialist that he visited at the Bordeaux clinic came to Spain the previous weekend to help Rafa with the recovery.

NADAL TO MAKE RETURN AT STAR-STUDDED MUBADALA CHAMPIONSHIP

Rafael Nadal will make his long-awaited return to singles action in Abu Dhabi this December after he was confirmed as part of a star-studded line-up for the fifth Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

The 11-time Grand Slam winner will start his season at the International Tennis Complex alongside last year's champion, Novak Djokovic, and man of the moment Andy Murray - who won the inaugural MWTC event in 2009.

Roger Federer has not been included in the line-up for 2012 as organisers look to celebrate those three former MWTC champions, but they have put together the strongest roster in the event's short history, with Nadal's compatriot David Ferrer, Czech star Tomas Berdych and Djokovic's Davis Cup team-mate Janko Tipsarevic ensuring all six have been drawn from the world's top nine.

The six players will do battle in Zayed Sports City between December 27 and 29 for a winner-takes-all prize of $250,000 (Dh918,262).

Doesn't really seem legit.
Nadal's been posting so often on FB he wouldn't have missed the chance to post this.

He didn't say that but from the way he talks it's obvious he's got no intention of playing the WTF or the DC final.
He said his goal is to start the season in perfect condition.

it's just an announcement from the tournament organizers about their field, and hence about Nadal that he's entered Abu Dhabi exho, nothing else about Nadal's peculiar case, although from what we heard it looks likely that it will be his first tournament since Wimbledon

nadal never learns

he's always crap at the australian, he should be content with QFs there. irrelevant whether he plays abu dhabi or syndey or brisbane.

play any warm up, QFs at AO, then onto south american clay swing for a couple of tournaments

this would preserve his health and preserve his form and game. but that's the intelligent thing to do, so he won't do it

Nadal WTF man? Giving us all false hope? He said he 'might' be back for OGs, then Winston Salem () then Tokyo, now Abu Dhabi? Just shut up, train and come back as soon as you can. What is this crap?

Nothing new specifically - he's said all along he's aiming for Doha/Aus Open. Tournament director just said today that Nadal had texted him personally last week to say he'd be coming to Australia.

Quote:
A TEXT message from across the world has lifted the mood of Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley. Rafael Nadal, the champion sidelined since July with a knee injury, texted Tiley an image of himself stretching before a practice session. Given concerns that the 11-time grand slam champion, who partially tore his patella tendon at Wimbledon, might miss the Australian Open, it was a welcome sight.

More welcome, though, was Nadal's declaration that he would definitely be in Melbourne seeking to better his heroics last January, when he fell to Novak Djokovic in the longest final ever played, a five-set epic that lasted 5hr 53min. "I showed a picture earlier that he is ready. It is a good reminder to us, him lying on a towel and doing his stretches, that he wants to be here. He loves Australia," Tiley said. "If you know Rafa Nadal, he will be here. It always surprises what he gets up to. He did text last week and we had direct communication with him and he is planning to be back towards the end of the year and definitely play in the Australian Open."

Nadal is yet to determine where he will return, but news that he is back on court is encouraging. Tiley, who has been in contact with the Spaniard and other top players given ongoing negotiations regarding Australian Open prize money, said it was not clear whether Nadal would play any events in the lead-up to Melbourne.

Nadal played a season-opening event in Doha following a post-Christmas exhibition in Qatar as his preparation for this year's Australian Open and said in an interview published last month that he wants to resume in the Gulf. "That is the biggest goal for me, to come back just before then in Qatar, but I cannot say for sure it is going to happen," he said. "The only thing is to recover well. I want to be 100 per cent when I come back. I don't want to keep playing every day with doubts, not knowing if my knee is going to answer all the questions."
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/spor...-1226486887208

Also think the story mixes two things up. Nadal posted a FB photo of him stretching on an Aus Open towel a couple of weeks ago, which Tiley clearly referred to as showing that the Aus Open means a lot to him. Don't think that's what the text was about. He just said Nadal texted last week confirming his plans.
