True. My mistake.

Re: 2016 - I think he'll definitely play 2 more full-ish seasons at least. Let's not forget he pretty much destroyed most of the field at RG just a few months ago. He's not on his last legs. Then if you listen to his recent interviews he's quite calm as the main thing he needs is rest - that should usually sort this particular issue - said he was happy as the tendon treatment is still working. Seems like he knows what works for his body now and is planning more. Think he certainly sounds like he wants to stick around as long as he can and that bodes well. If he's still strong Top 4 level by Wimbledon 2014 then surely he'll be tempted to schedule wisely for another 2 years to be competitive by 2016.

To me there's two options - either retire in 2014 at 28 if his body breaks down too fast. OR play sparingly in 2015 and 2016, maybe mainly grass and clay and the HC majors to finally retire in 2016. I think the motivation to carry that flag is actually quite high and given that he was supposedly done for in 2009 - 3 years ago - and came back okay - makes me think he has a few good years left. The competition is atrocious so even an 80% Nadal should do okay on the tour, especially due to his clay points.

Hopefully , WTF would take place in Switzerland in the last year of Fed's career.

With a revised schedule focusing on natural surfaces Rafa will certainly have a shot at playing 4/5 more years. Plus there's an extra week of grass from 2014.

I think Ferrero will go at Valencia too.
I agree with this, as long as another serious injury doesn't occur. I can see him going out with a DC tie in 2014 or maybe at the end of 2013 and I think a DC tie would be the best way for him to go, given how much he loves the competition. AO is of course also possible.

I also agree about Robredo, Haas and Ferrero.

If Nalbandian doesn't get his DC dream I can see him calling it a day at Buenos Aires in the next couple of years.

A fitting end for Fed would be right after he took Wimbledon number 8. But unlike Sampras, announce it that your done.

I wouldn't want Fed to retire at WTF because that would mean he's still in the top 8. USO would be better.

Would you have him retire ranked 39 with 990 points?

Haas still has few years left.
As his prime goal isn't to gain rankings as much as possible, we could see him for another 2-4 years.
It sounds strange considering his age, but there are other factors as well.

He spent so many years outside courts, that he's always eager to give his best tennis.
One of his next goals are:
To reach 500th victory and to play long enough for his daughter to watch him play, consciously..

So my guess would be somewhere in 2015, Germany or USO...

Well I doubt he will get that low before retiring without an injury. I mean that I'd like him to go for a year or 2 after dropping to 10-20.

Being serious though. Probably after the US Open too and after winning it.

That would be sad to see. I dont like any top player to keep doing that. I highly doubt we will see that from Fed. His ego is too big as is his bank account to keep playing anymore when he's not in contention.

Federer is too arrogant and egotistical to retire while still being a slam contender.
