USO R2: Hewitt def. Muller 3-6, 7-6(7-5), 6-7(5-7), 7-5, 6-4
Watching this match I was thinking about peak Lleyton. I can bet my house that this Muller wouldn`t take even 12 games off Hewitt 10 years ago. But old man still has it - Raonic at AO, Muller here.

gilles really should have had a 2-0 set lead but choked serving for that. Then he double faulted on match point..so nothing new for gilles really

Poor Muller! Not only does he choke and faces a fired up Hewitt but on match point he has to try and focus when that booming voice of the announcer booms out 'And the winner Alex Dolgolpolov...'
I know these guys have to shut out that kind of stuff but really! Don't the crowd know the name of the guy who won?
Congrats Hewitt. Looking forward to him and Ferrer at it for a few hours.

Shame such a great fight had to end with a df. Some vintage Hewitt in there, even if not the whole package. Pure determination and some brilliant backhand passes with a fantastic lob or two got the job done in five.
Don't see him getting past Ferrer after this effort but for now I'm just happy he won, first five setter won in a while. Good to see him getting fiery out there too  |
