Great to see Del Potro swat aside the overhyped American. Harrison has no weapons and will never achieve anything significant.

He does have an exceedingly defensive way of playing, --- hangs around the baseline batting back grounders until the opponent makes mistakes. He is not good on the midcourt or net game and rarely attempts to get there, so his game is mostly one-dimensional and thus predictable. The element of surprise once in awhile would keep his opp guessing and off-balance. In this regard, he plays a lot like Roddick which may be no coincidence since Andy is his mentor.

But overall much better control than at other hard court tourneys this summer. Hope the trend continues.

It's not much compliment to pay oh you lost but at least you didn't have a mental break down. You could even deal with his mental outbursts ( ala Mcenroe) it the results were there to back it up.

I don't see Ryan improve that compare to what he done last year

Dropping a set against Overratedson? DelPo isn't long for this tournament I'm afraid.

The problem is when Ryan loses mental control (has tantrums, rants, swearing jags) he starts playing worse and signals his opponent to go in for the kill, which is holding down his win/loss ratio. After two years on the tour he's got a reputation for tantrums/brattiness, receives several conduct fines every year, is losing fans and potential endorsers who find his behavior unattractive and unwanted regardless of the results. Especially if he reaches the top ten, it'd be horrible to have to endure another decade of the top seeded American as a reincarnation of bratty, ill-mannered McEnroe or Roddick.

He knows this as his new year's resolution for 2012 was to receive no conduct fines, which he's managed to avoid so far, but gotten warnings and had to make a public apology for his meltdowns at the Olympics while representing the US.

So the post was to compliment him on doing a good job today under trying circumstances (he looked ready to erupt a few times) on a goal that he, his team, and fans see as essential for his continued rise in the rankings and broad appeal.

He will probably lose in QF against Novak. But never rule him out really; he's one of the best players in the world after wrist surgery and a lot of niggles/injuries this year, I won't dare put any limits on what he can do on this or any other tournament.

He's not in good form - wrist issues hampered his USO preparation - but it will take a very good performance from his opponent to take him out, he never beats himself. Besides, this easy draw might help him play himself into form before the QF vs Nole, let's hope so. Mayer will be pretty much a glorified practice match.

Mah, DelPo game doesnt convince me at all. His run will end in QF, hopefully not earlier.

Harrison is overated. In the first two sets Harrison's shots landed short in the middle of the court every time and Del Po could wack any ball he wanted to and they would be winners. Juan lost focus in the third, but got it back in the fourth and the did same thing he did in the fourth just like the first and second.

Overall this match was just target practice for Del Po and I am really looking forward for Novak vs Del Po
