Default US Open 1R: Picasso Petz habituates Mahut 1-6, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(3)

Standard scoreline with a could-not-be-more-obvious five setter - meltdown from Mahut for about 5 games after serving for the match in the fourth, Petz somehow, actually, managing, to capitalize.

Picasso the absolute don of proving whoever wins the first two sets NEVER WIN THE MATCH

Jon Wertheim tweeted during the 3rd set

"Petzschner about to go out to Mahut. But if you get a chance it's worth a visit to court 13 on usopen.org just to see pp''s socks"

it was on serve at the time, made me think Mahut broke or something and was serving for the match. Petzschner came through about 2 hours later. Hopefully everyone managed to get online and see his socks. If not there's always his next match

Petzschner has very intresting results here. He won at US in 1st round in 5 sets today his fourth (!) match after victories in 2007, 2009, 2011 in past.

Epic choke from Mahut though, he served for match in 4th set.

Sorry Nico, but I'm really happy for Picasso, he's normally the one who choked away a 2-sets lead, now he turned the table. I was literally holding my breath at the TB thinking that he's going to choke . Well done, Phillip.

kind of surprised after watching the first two sets, picasso looked like he didn't want to be there. Didn't watch the rest but terrible result for mahut.

some amazing point in the final stage of the match. the beginning was just pure UEs from Petz who didn't even hold once during the first set. very happy but boy.. it's a hard time to be a Piacasso fan...

Mahut managed to save a 15-40 at the beginning of the fifth and Petz was never in danger when serving in the last set.

Mahut In 4th set, *5-4 5-5* *5-6 5-7

The begining was very poor quality match, especially Petzschner
Anyway, great come back after bad loss against F.Mayer at Wimbledon from 2-0

Entertaining tennis towards the end with crafty play. Shame one had to lose, like both.
