I believe that if Nadal had been put in his own era and also avoided Sampras, Kafelnikov and Chang, then he'd have exactly eleven majors by now.

LOL ! this ! Imagine Davydenko facing Nadal instead of Federer in their HC GS meetings what a spanking it would've been !

I think peak Safin can toy with anybody if he wants to.

Djokovic would be competitive on the hardcourts but Nadal would not be getting close to non-clay slams.

Roddick no. Even if his peak level certainly is underrated on this forum (and I say this as someone who dislikes duck), Nole would win at least on these slow courts. Peak Safin is not inferior to Nole 2.0 though. Too bad Marat cared more about women than tennis.

As for Gonzales, we've already seen that he could destroy Nadal on a good day. Blake as well, but James' game was horribly inconsistent, even more than Gonzo's. Nadal on the other hand, his biggest asset is consistency. My guess is he would beat them more times than not. But even so they would be big threats to him.

Even when Nadal faced old crippled Blake, James still took it to a final set.

I know you do mate but let's be honest, you're one of the bigger Noletards here. And how big a fan you are correlates strongly with home much you underrate/overrate that player. No offense.

So did Tsonga - used to have 4-1 over Nole, but since then he won just one match and lost eight. Things change

none taken but I watched Safin his whole career and his peak level was for like 10 matches....not a huge sample size

The majority here think this is a strong era? The majority aren't all that vocal about it. Looks like it's only the loudmouths that use the words weak and era in the same sentence. Shocking stuff.
