What's your address? I'll send you some handkerchiefs. Being such a whiny bitch, you must spend all of your money on them.

So did I, I was mistaken, they just elected players for the council, it's the council that chooses the president, not all of the ATP players (That's what Sergiy Stakovsky told me on twitter), and elections were yesterday.

ehm which part of elected don't you get? Isn't that the root of democracy? How can someone being elected be bad for democracy? Are you suggesting Fed cheated? used guns? Is Fed a secret dictator?? Maybe he has mind-controlpowers! That must be it.

Fed didn't demand or requested that Bercy changes its surface, they asked him what he would like and he said another surface. Which makes sense since he played on hard before Bercy and especially after at the WTF. To switch from one surface to another and back to the other one is difficult. What the ATP should have done is make a proper carpet season at the end of the year, had the WTF been on carpet, as well as a couple of other tournaments during this time then Bercy would have had no problems getting all the top players.

And, as it has already been stated, Fed's game is very suited for carpet, so he didn't really benefit from the death of carpet surfaces as some other players did.

Stakhovsky He wants more money for his routine 1st round losses BTW is Novak also on the council?

At least we can now be sure that if he stays healthy and fit, Fed definitely won't be retiring this year.

To be fair, an awful lot of players were complaining about Moscow carpet for years. Not only men (Safin was always vocal on the issue) but a lot of top-ranked women too, and don't forget Kremlin Cup up until 2009 was a WTA Tier I event as opposed to ATP MM. The surface was said to be too slow, weird-bouncing and sticky. It was easy to get injured there if one wasn't light on the feet. I think Anna-Lena Groenefeld's horrific injury in 2005 was the turning point in this regard.

Yes, but why change the actual surface to hardcourt as opposed to laying out a different carpet?

The surface supplier for Kremlin Cup is the company run by Tarpischev's son. So it's all down to $$$.
Plus, they had to follow the general WTA trend. Men's tour is not the only one where capret tournaments were being killed off. It was even worse on the WTA -- not only were they replacing carpet with indoor hard wherever possible, they actually went on to destroy the whole indoor season to make a room for Asian events with no spectators but a shitload of money. Five years ago WTA had 3 Tier I and 5 Tier II indoor events, now it's only Paris Indoors and Moscow as Tier II, both with depleted fields. Men at least still have tournies like Rotterdam, Basel, Vienna, Bercy etc.

I'm glad your bringing this up. All the clowns that say Fed & #3 killed off carpet can STFU.

I wonder why the ATP haven't confirmed it yet? Maybe there are other decisions that came out of the council that they need to work to portray in a positive manner in a press release.
