Re: WoW! Players threaten to boycott the AO!
Oh noes! Another case of useless scrubs with no talent wanting more money Nothing to see here. I was hoping for more legitimate reasons for the boycott. All I've seen so far is butthurt mugs unhappy they can't get something for nothing.

Re: WoW! Players threaten to boycott the AO!
Thought AO gave out more money than the other slams.

Re: WoW! Players threaten to boycott the AO!
This is horrible if it's true of all slams why the Australian Open, they have been the one doing the most for players with the roof on two courts at least you know that the money is going somewhere. French Open and US Open should be the one that they should boycott that will never happen cause they are aiming for records. They chose the slam that will affect their record books the less.

Re: WoW! Players threaten to boycott the AO!
stakhovsky posted on twitter there's no smoke without fire
srsly, if this happens, i'll stop following tennis in any form. just will lose respect to a bunch of primadonnas. but i believe it's just sensation seeking for now.
they should try to improve futures and challenger tour by boosting money prize, this is where many talented kids get screwed because they dont have money to pay a train (they dont travel by planes...) ticket with a submission fee, and then if you pass let's say 4 rounds of quallies but lose in the 1st round to a top seed you land with 100 dollars on hand... (which you also must pay a tax from)
this is the real problem and not if stakhovsky and suchlikes can buy a ferrari or porsche
but they are top 100 now, they want a coach, nutritionist, massagist and psychologist to travel with them and some of them want to pay hookers without asking dad for pocket money on that purpose
they don't think of the ones who are to make a road they somehow made a few years ago (mind the futures prize money havent been changed for a long time, and inflation kicks in)

"combination of date and distance"
John Mac said this was the hardest one to win because of these special circumstances.

He rarely even tried to win it. He only entered it 5 times in his career. It was just not as important back in those days and the top player was already decided by the the end of the year when it happened. There wasn't much motivation for him or many players to care at the time.

Re: WoW! Players threaten to boycott the AO!
This is actually kinda racist - the AO is the only slam that Asians can attend without spending 10+++ hours on a plane, so to screw it over is just...

Re: WoW! Players threaten to boycott the AO!
never underestimate power of uncle tony's long reaching strategy. noone really knows when rafa will be ready to play again, so he's developing plans to sabotage whole AO if needed.

Re: WoW! Players threaten to boycott the AO!
I can't see Djokovic going along with this, after all the AO is his best slam and he's the defending champion there. It would be like Nadal boycotting RG or Federer boycotting Wimbledon. It would screw up his ranking for the rest of the year..

Re: WoW! Players threaten to boycott the AO!
^^ Well, I agree that the likelihood of that happening is very slim
