Too hard on the body.
I know a rider Marino Lejarreta competed in all 3 grand tours in 1 year a couple of times and finished them all.

Re: Lance Armstrong finally banned for doping
Hahahaha Ulrich clean good joke.
Pharmstrong will never admit to doping as he has too much lose. He'll spend time inside for perjury considering he lied under oath.

I think he should spend some time in jail for what he did.
It was pure fraud, he needs to give back the money he won and to ask forgiveness from the ppl, cycling and his fans

Re: Lance Armstrong finally banned for doping
Since Ullrich has admitted to doping, there's no way that he'll get it.
Besides, Ullrich himself has already stated that he doesn't think that he deserves to get those titles anyway so he'll refuse in the impossible case they would offer the titles to him.

Re: Lance Armstrong finally banned for doping
Pevenage said that after the Festina case in 1998, many teams got afraid and stopped using EPO because the danger of getting caught was too high.
Pevenage claims that Ullrich rode clean after 1998 but in 2001, they caved in to the temptation of doping once again because, as Pevenage said, Ullrich's main rival Armstrong was clearly still using doping.
Here's where I think Pevenage is being dumb: he says that in a way, "we all" (them and other teams) are a victim of Armstrong because he "forced us back into doping."
--> This to me, is If Ullrich took doping, it was their decision so their wrong-doing.
I used to be a fan of Ullrich too but I think that those 7 years should remain without an official winner.

I used to be a fan of Ullrich too. Good that he doesn't see himself as a winner now.

Re: Lance Armstrong finally banned for doping
I have no doubt that Ulrich was the more talented out of the two but he was also more naive. While Armstong ruthlessly managed his doping Ring and organized everything perfectly ulrich and his Management was made to believe that getting doped was the only way forward.

Re: Lance Armstrong finally banned for doping
Ulrich's work ethic was questionable throughout his career. Doping aside he was always considered one of the most talented all round riders in the peleton but never really reach his true potential.

Re: Lance Armstrong finally banned for doping
Read somewhere that Armstrong perjured himself 7 times.
Marion Jones perjured herself twice I believe and got like 6 mths jail time.

I want to see what instant marketing one-liner Nike can come up with for Dopestrong. "Doping #counts" sounds good to me.

I don't want to offend you, but that is a bit naive. Do you have think Armstrong is an odd case out? Doping is deeply entranched in all major sports. With little regulation and major career & money incentives, athletes will not dope from the good will of their hearts. Specially consdering that amateurs at you local gym can easily use it and you nowdays you have things like Testosterone replacement with mean reaching their 40-50s and Doctor legally prescribing supplementation of their testosterone. And this is all stuff that can be greatly used by atheletes as Peds. If sports don't seriously test and regulate is naive to think there won't be wide spread usage.

Re: Lance Armstrong finally banned for doping
The only thing I hope that will come out of this total trainwreck-debacle, is that NEVER EVER anyone will accept the claim "I have never been caught doping" as being an excuse for being 'clean' ever again.
Lebron James. Marion Jones. Carl Lewis. The list is bloody ENDLESS. TONS of others who'd "never been caught doping" either. Yeah, sure....
