Types of fans
You all probably noticed that most fans don't support just random players. There is a pattern that you can see over and over again. I listed some of the common types for fun .
Most of the fans probably don't belong to any type as they can like one player and hate everybody else there, but let's see
Type 1: 'The one-handers club'
Those fans say that the most admirable thing about a player is his natural talent. They usually prefer one-handed BH (with exceptions) and grass tennis.
Mainly supporting: Federer, Haas, Wawrinka, Youzhny, Kohlschreiber, Tsonga.
Type 2: 'Grinders for life'
Supporters of clay tennis and long and tactical rallies. Prefer the hard working grinders (mostly spaniards) and baseline specialists.
Mainly supporting: Nadal, Ferrer*, Monaco, Almagro.
*Ferrer actually not so often.
Type 3: 'Team Serbia'
Interestingly, most of Novak's supporters are more attracted to players from his country than to the ones who share his style. A lot of patriotic supporters of the Serbian trio.
Mainly supporting: Djokovic, Tipsarevic, Troicki.
Type 4: 'Andy will rise'
Simply fans of Andy Murray. In most cases, they don't have much place for anybody else in their hearts.
Mainly supporting: Murray, Federer*.
*Sometimes Roger too, for some reason.
Type 5: 'Ballbasher lovers*'
Another common type. Supporting the most attacking form of Tennis, which means Ballbashers and sometimes big servers.
Mainly supporting: Del Potro, Tsonga, Berdych, Isner, Raonic.
*Dedicated to Mark Lenders and Certinfy
Type 6: 'Richard Gasquet is the real world #1'
Those are just weird .
Mainly supporting: Gasquet.
What type are you?
Oh, and add your own types!!

Re: Types of fans
where do I sign for option #1?
also, yes my main favorites play 1HBH, but its not that important to me. I simply like offensive style, with 'how to win the point' not 'how to wait for opponent to miss'.

Re: Types of fans
So tards are excluded from the discussion then?
There are differences between tards and fans.

Re: Types of fans
How about gloryhunters? They support one of the top 3, generally show ignorance about aspects of the game not related to the glorification of their player, accusing the other two of playing in a weak era, saying their player is unbeatable when at their best/on a given surface/when he cares, etc...
Thanks for the dedication

Re: Types of fans
Interesting topic!
But I don't fit anywhere.
I am: "Random crush fan": Just happens to like certain players with no apparent link between them, just because of a giant and long-lasting crush on any or several aspect(s) of their game/personality.
Or else there is a similarity between Kafelnikov, Coria and Ferrer that I just cannot see (only one: they are or were top players but not GOAT players who always won, I tend to get bored by GOATs)
I can match them 2 by 2, but nothing seems to work for all 3.
Kafel - Coria : disliked by journalists, not the nicest guys around in terms of personality / Ferrer : one of the kindest and most correct guys on tour
Coria : often annoyed or amused people with his antics on court / Ferrer - Kafel : not particularly prone to antics on court
Coria - Ferrer : small guys with slow serves that run a lot / Kafel : tall guy with a big serve
Kafel - Ferrer : rather simple technique with no flourishing / Coria : rather weird and unpredictable style

Serve bots are not necessarily bashers!
Also, no, I love Murray, and would never support Federer(maybe if he was playing Tomic or Tipsarevic, but just maybe)
And I like lots of other players, like Kei and Gilles and Benneteau. So you are wrong on everything!!!

Re: Types of fans
Also, Fed's backhand is usually an ugly shank nowadays, so I'm not sure why fans of 1h backhands would enjoy watching him.
Tsonga is worse.
Why would Gasquet be excluded from this group?

Re: Types of fans
Type 8: Tennis fan of all forms.. Whoever appeals to me style wise and personality... I like Tsonga and Federer for totally different reasons... I also really liked Nadal when he went sleeveless.. Style on court appeals to me in a totally non gay way.
