Del Potro playing probably his best ever tournament + super hungry Federer? Very tough draw if anything.

We know the slow courts are helping the top guys stay at the top for longer (confirmed by Federer himself).

Djokovic will probably play until 35 years of age. I'd say he's got a shot at not just building a better clay court record than Federer, but dwarfing the guy completely.

Federer is a better player than Djokovic overall even on clay, but that doesn't mean Nole can't achieve more. Being the better player and achieving more are not always the same thing; achievements depend a lot on circumstances (injuries, quality of the competition faced, etc...).

Nole has a great chance to build an excellent clay resumé, he can beat Nadal on clay if needed, and with Rafa out of the picture/declining he'd be the clear #1 on clay.

Don't think Djokovic will surpass Fed on clay. Djokovic has on RG final. Fed has 5 and a title. Several other big clay titles and in the clay GOAT era. Djokovic would need to win 2 RG titles to have a chance. If he does it when Nadal is gone it won't mean that much. He shouldn't have lost to Roger in 2011 and to Nadal this year at RG. That pretty much says he will never surpass Roger on clay.

It's not out of the question that Nole will beat Rafa at RG in the future. If he does that and adds another RG later (beating Nadal or not), he'd be recognised as the better clay player on court. Certainly Nadal is the yardstick on that surface for this era of players and Nole 2.0 obviously bettered him a couple of times.

for win , he needs roland garros like federer, and federer could beat the best nadal on clay that was in the period 2005-2008.

federer since 2004 never lost in roland garros with guys like kolschreiber or melzer.....he lost again guys like kuerten , djokovic , nadal or sodeling.

in 2009 he had the same chance than federer and he lost.

Djokovic might win one RG but he won't reach five finals there. When you almost lose against the likes of Tsonga on clay you know even winning one RG title will be difficult. He will probably win a very tough RG title like Agassi and Federer. The only player who had it easy when trying to complete the Career Slam in the Open era was Nadal who only dropped a set at the USO in 2010. But that is the exception. RG is usually the most elusive slam for the 6+ slam winners.

Becker, Edberg, McEnroe, Connors and Sampras failed to win RG.

Lendl and Wilander couldn't win Wimbledon.

Borg never won the USO.

McEnroe and Borg skipped the AO for most of their careers and of course never won it.
