Interesting.

Maybe Novak ends up with 8 or 9 slams.[/quote]

This seems like a reasonable figure considering his age and current ability, especially on hard courts, which host two of the majors per year. It's not inconceivable to think he would have one more season where he wins two majors (this year, quite possibly, especially if Nadal is not properly fit), and another couple of seasons where he picks up a major.

Mind you, with no young players really kicking on at the moment, there may be more chances to win majors at an older age than previously. I remember another poster stating he thinks this is the worst crop of youngsters he's seen in forty years or so following tennis...

In this scenario, Djoko would most likely end up with ~1000 pts more than Fed and rankings don't lie.

The fact is, success in DC is largely determined by what country you come from or play for in the first place, which most players haven't had any control over.

If we say assume that Miami and IW are the same, then one extra Slam final for Djoker compared to Fed should give Djoker the edge this year anyway.
If you use that argument, you need to apply the same criteria to the majors. Wimbledon is the oldest (first championship 1877 compared to 1881 for US Open) and most prestigious in the eyes of the players and media. It's still played on its original surface, players still must wear all white, etc, etc.

Do we agree that if Djokovic won the most important Masters 1000, then Federer won the most important major?

Not necessarily.

US W - 2000
US F - 1200

WTF Undefeated - 1500
WTF Final with one loss in RR - 800

That is an advantage of 100 points for Novak and right now Roger is up by 75 points. Not sure where you are getting your 1000 points?

Forget about rankings, look at race to London.Post Wimby race is stat to look at.

Djokovic 8110
Federer 7545

Djoko is already leading it by 565 points

The generation born in the early 90s is the worst in a long time.

Murray, obviously. Everyone knows prestigious tournaments like Paris and Shanghai easily trump MM events like Tour Finals and USO.

Regardless of our favourite player(s), I'll say it once more - this really is a pant-wetting, mouth-watering end to the the season. For me, it's been the most enjoyable tennis season in quite some time: we have a very close race for YE n.1, majors split between the three best players in the world, two players trading the number one ranking mid-season, Nadal beating Fed in AO semi and losing a heart-breaking final to Djokovic, Djokovic beating Fed in RG semi and seemingly having the upper hand in their rivalry, Nadal exacting revenge on Nole in RG final, denying him all four majors, a stunning upset in 2nd round Wimbledon, Fed beating Djokovic in Wimbledon semi and exacting revenge, a player many thought past it winning a glorious Wimbledon final, Murray's tears as he realises his dream of a slam may never be realised, Murray's ecstatic climb into the crowd after Olympic Gold reaffirms his standing as a potential slam winner. And now US Open to come.

If Djokovic wins it, as I suspect he will (Super Saturday too much for Federer?!?) unless Nadal is fit and on form, then he's our YE number one.

FXXk me, tennis is brilliant.

Yeah right...chances are it will happen within the next two majors played!

Mind you, it's doubtful Djokovic will ever win 9 HC majors...

If Federer wins the US Open, it's 10-4.

No, we do not agree. I tried to explain that in another post in this thread. But I admit the difference between IW and Miami is rather minimal.

To give you an example about Wimbledon: Here in Germany it is the only Slam which is not shown on free TV, so exclusive it is. All Slams are valued the same now.
