I understood you, OK. But that is different animal now. Roger "was helped" due to Nole defending because it was first part of the year where Race not that important. For years I got used to very simple formula: till Wimbledon Rankings > Race and after it Race > Rankings. But obviously it`s better to count both.

Maybe prestigious isn't the right word but yeah, AO has catched up with WI in the last 20 or so years, the players accept it better, it has roofs, a more modern surface (which has nothing to do with prestige but you still get the picture). I don't feel the same way about Miami and IW, it's my opinion, ok?

Well, I said that the Olympics are pretty much irrelevant for the question at hand anyway since Murray won it, so...and just because THIS YEAR Miami was littered with retirements for whatever strange reasons, that changes nothing about the reputation or prestige of the tournament in general.

A Slam final at RG is certainly a bigger deal than titles at Dubai or Rotterdam.

Pure ownage!

AO + Miami > wimbledon + IW
Lol

Come on guys, Nole is the favourite for YE number one, but saying he has won the most prestigious tournaments is ridiculous. He has been awfully consistent throughout the year, no doubt about it.

You just must decide for yourself are Slams the only things that count or not. Because after Wimbledon = AO you wrote about Miami > IW. When I didn`t agree you instead of going further with Masters` titles wrote about Slam Final > Slam semi. If you are supporter point of view that only Slams matter than I`ll not continue argue, because at Slams this year so far Novak > Roger, I agree. Simply I think that it isn`t correct way of calculation.

Nole 2.0 lasted half a season.

I don't have the opinion that only Slam matter. As a tennis fan, I think all tournaments matter but if we like it or not, Slams are by far the most important tournaments and that's what top players like Fed or Djoker *mostly* are playing for. Now if Fed had won 2 or 3 more Masters than Djoker one could make a point but he hasn't. That one more Slam final, Miami win and more points in the race make it clear than Djoker had a greater season than Fed IMO.

Ok, I don`t agree at all, but at least some arguments behind the conclusion.

its not debatable that Nole has the better season .After winning in Toronto he has the best season since he leads the race .Before that Fed had the better year

The YE ranking will be decided at the US Open

I have to agree with this. Matt wtf? To me, I don't care if Novak wins SW19 or AO or USO and I don't care if he wins Miami or IW. I don't buy into that 'more prestigious tournament' crap since you play for same amount of point and almost the same money with (almost) the same bunch of guys trying to stop you and colect the points and money themselves. You think Miami is harder to win than IW (or vice versa)? I don't think so. Slam = Slam, Masters = Masters. It's not 250s to talk about strenght of the draw. Evey top guy, if fit and ready to play, will play every GS and every masetrs. If you win GS or masters event, you are the best player that week bcs everybody will want to win it.

Touchy on this topic. No. Nole 2.0 took a break in the summer of 2011, before the USO. It was a great half of the year for the 2.0 version of Nole, but it did not last 9 months.

In first turn nothing like "by far" can`t sound. They are as close as possible. And I`m going with this equality till now. Yep, GS Final > GS semi, but two titles "500" > zero titles. Silver medal > 4 place. And etc.

But if I must choose someone it would be Roger. Funny, but almost according to your logic. For you Miami > IW, but for me Wimbledon > AO for the same reasons.
