Re: Murrays withdraws from Toronto.
Lol. Not counting Djokovic, the heighest seeds left in are Berdych, Tipsarevic, and Monaco(!). Somebody (probably Nole unless he withdraws) is getting a free Masters title at the end of this week.

Re: Murrays withdraws from Toronto.
This is probably the most important master series to Andy, so it must be fairly serious. Its smart though. He must be fit for the US Open.

Re: Murrays withdraws from Toronto.
Relatively free 1000 points waiting for Djokovic.

I'm curious, why would it be most important to him?

If you were reading along, I mentioned it was mandatory earlier in the thread. Duh. But Murray didn't have a knee injury before the tournament either, so he'd also get 0 pointer for withdrawing. I don't get why you responded with this to me. I wasn't the one arguing he was stupid for not skipping the tournament, Chaz was.

Re: Murrays withdraws from Toronto.
Murray could do with a rest, and his knee did seem to be bothering him. He tends to get these knee issues when he changes surface so hopefully all he needs is a week or so to do some training and get used to it. The guys been playing so much over the past couple of months and he must be so emotionally mentallyt right now that its probably best he withdraws.

Why *should* he? Perhaps he hoped he could play, didn't want to withdraw, needed to see how he felt while playing. It's not as though he had a lot of time before the tournament to see how he managed the surface change. Also Lendl was here, he won't be in Cinci - another reason for seeing how things went. And do you seriously think a player of Cipolla's abilities could "do something" here? Beat a player of Raonic's capabilities when he couldn't even get a set off Murray on one leg?
This is a tournament where he usually (forget last year!) does well. However, with knee problems, Cinci next week, USO round the corner, and the weather forecast looking like having to play two matches on at least one if not two of the days if he managed to keep winning, this seems a sensible decision.

This. Murray should do what he thinks is best for himfself, why should he care about Cipolla?
If Cipolla can't beat an injured Murray that is his problem.

Re: Murrays withdraws from Toronto.
Right decision if knee is playing up, no point in getting injured prior to USO, at least he bothered showing up even if it was just for the cake

Re: Murrays withdraws from Toronto.
Prolly took one look at the weather today and thought "**** this". The one thing he won't want is to be stuck playing two matches in a day.
Now he can take it easy, get to Cincy, rest a bit.
