Default Toronto R2: Murray def. Cipolla 6:1 6:3

routine win for Andy. His FH is getting better and better. Commentators kept talking about his back problems. that's my only concern.

I have to admit i was expecting him to pull out. He just had a great olympics, really had no serious reason to come here with his ewarly exit last year.

Good win though

I don't know about the back. My feed had no announcers. Andy had the trainer attend to his left knee and was limping slightly. I hope he remains healthy.

I saw him grabbing his left thigh, and left knee and left hip. What is wrong with him?

Forehand looked and he was aggressive throughout which is good news as he sometimes just chooses to out-rally players of Cipolla's standard. Olympic hangover was obvious and he messed up a few shots despite playing well to get there but overall he looked decent. Hopefully his knee/back or whatever is okay.

Despite the score line I think it's still a toss up whether he plays next match. He was favoring the knee but mostly I think it was heat an tiredness. I hope he gets a night match next.

Hardly surprising he did not play at his best, after what was it - 11 matches in 9 days, followed by media obligations and a long flight, then only a very little time to get used to the surface change. He did well to win a match (even against a rabbit) considering all that.

He always has problems changing surfaces, due to the congenital knee problem. It should be fine in a day or so, but might very well not be good enough to take on Raonic next match.

What a profesional Andy is post Olympics he more than anyone could have pulled out, showed up and tanked...But no he showed up and gave 100% many payers could do with learning from Andy.

Groundies looked great he played aggressive...difficult to truly assess his form against an oppenant who possess few weapons but overall Andy did great.

Really sweet of the tournament directors to make him a chocolate cake i guess they are soo glad he decided to play there given all the tennis he has played recently.

He did call MTO for knee but he siad in interview afterwards that its a minor issue and he's not concerned. So hopefully he'll be fine??

Good enough, in spite of the knee pain that always comes when he changes surfaces.

Not sure he'll have enough for Raonic tomorrow night but no doubt he'll give it the old college try.

Murray said in his interview its just a changing surfaces problem not a major problem so he should be fine going forward, here is a pic of the cake they gave him

I hope he tanks or loses tomorrow since I have Raonic to win the tournament in my atp picks. I was sure Djokovic and the Murray would pull out.

agreed 100%.

Raonic, who beat him last time in Barcelona, might be a tough challenge.

btw, Organizers did a great job by serving Murray an 'Olympic Gold Cake' after the match .

I'm not sure. I watched the match on TV (TSN). Thank God, we in Canada have a great coverage of this event. they were talking about his back ... I don't think it's anything too serious. Murray must be tired after playing so many matches lately.

I'm just worried about both Nole and Andy not being 100% at the USO.
