I think the Olympics should be decided by group stage similar to WTF but with no knockout. It's the only way to fairly give out medals.

"Similar to WTF but no knockout"? You are talking about group only, with no SF or F? How many players do you envision participating?

I was confused. I say yes even if I voted "no". The fact Delpo won showed his desire. Novak did not care as much it seems.

The fact is, success in DC is largely determined by what country you come from or play for in the first place, which most players haven't had any control over.

He did care a lot. He was so devastated after the match, not to mention his frustration during the match itself. He was almost in tears during his interview, saying this was one of the saddest moments of his career/life. Felt a bit sorry for him, it's tough to come 4th at the Olympics.

I would not be against giving the bronze medal to both men; after the painful semifinal defeats both endured, making them play another match where one goes home emptihanded seems a bit cruel. But I guess that's how sports work.

Hm, well tennis is very much a winners' sport, so I think it should be there. In boxing and judo they get 2 medals, so it really depends. I feel tennis players value it more if there's a bronze match .

But it's also a sport where tournaments never have a third place playoff; WTF apart, the premise of this sport is you lose, you're out.

Not sure a bronze medal match fits in with the tennis model. I can understand why it's played, but would be perfectly ok with both players taking bronze. Would also make QFs more exciting as those would be medal matches.

Del Potro's reaction after winning the bronze match yesterday should silence any doubt as to the match's necessity.

i like the BMM. I just think it should be played immediately before the GMM and not at the same time.

There should be a smaller amount of players, considering Olympics is supposed to be the best of the best.

Even with 16 players that would require 120 matches in total

Bronze is for the player in 3rd. You can't have two people getting the same medal unless it's a team event.

Also, it meant that Djokovic didn't get a medal, which was good.

In tennis that is known as the world tour finals

And even they, with 8 players, don't use a league system alone.
