Re: WWW Olympics Final: Federer - Murray
Murka had played better tennis than Fed in this tournament, but we all know his bad habit to fold in big finals. To overcome this mental block is probably harder than outplay Fed on court. If he can keep his head cool and game aggressive, he has a real good chance here. Physically he is probably less tired than Fed., if goes into fifth, he has advatage.

if so why does he have such a poor record in 5-setters ?
why did he lose to Tsonga and Djokovic last year after leading 2 sets to love ?
funny that until recently people said "Fed is finished for 5-setters" and now some go to the absolute opposite.
OF course Fed gets tired like all the players
As for Murray, with Robson they will probably be defeated by Hewitt-Stosur anyway, and even if he plays two doubles, that's not such an important effort except if he plays 18-16 like Llodra-Tsonga.

I don't think it'll matter that much I think Fed was just coasting through and I have a feeling he is going to play in god mode in the finals this is one of his most desired finals ever he so wants that olympic gold and when Fed wants something BAD he takes it.
How cool would it be if Fed won his gold in front of Brits playing against a Brit ?
No offense to Brits but that'd be such a BOSS thing to do and if there's one player that can do that it's Fed. Seeing all those faces...priceless.

Re: WWW Olympics Final: Federer - Murray
I have a new respect for Andy Murray too. May the better player win on Sunday.
But look, for Federer fans, silver is not dishonorable or "bad" by any means, especially considering the epic match he just had against Delpo. He's playing for gold but is at minimum assured a silver + the #1 ranking at least until Cincy. And I think Roger has a good chance to be ranked #1 at USO now.
Djokovic may do the dumb thing and defend Rogers. Then plays Cincy and by the time USO rolls around he'll be a little burned out. Nadal will be rusty in Cincy. If Fed heads into Flushing Meadows with the #1 ranking he may give himself a good chance for a 2nd major this year. Imo, I'd take another USO > gold medal. But we'll see, I guess.. Hoping for a great final on Sunday before all other considerations.
And congrats Andy!!

Re: WWW Olympics Final: Federer - Murray
If Murray plays with the same dogged determination as he did today, I expect him to win.

Re: WWW Olympics Final: Federer - Murray
If Federer's groundgame is going to be off like it had been during the 2009 Wimbledon final against Roddick, or the recent semifinal match against Del Potro, Murray will have a very good chance of winning this.

There is no advantage set rule in mixed doubles, instead of 3rd set they actually play long tiebreaker until 10 points.

Re: WWW Olympics Final: Federer - Murray
Federer should not be exhausted at all. He has had plenty of rest prior to the Olympics and not to mention, he will get a whole day of rest prior to the final. Murray playing great, but what he has to overcome are
1. Federer on grass playing at his best venue
2. Federer over best of 5 sets
Murray played well at Wimbledon, but the fact that it was best of 5, it seemed like too large of a hurdle. Remember, he has only taken 1 set off Federer the 3 times they played at the slams, and you have to say that Federer has somewhat figured Murray out the past few years, as he has turned the H2H almost back in his favor.
Both should be very nervous for this chance, kind of like that first set at Wimbledon a few weeks ago, however, I think there might be some pressure off their shoulders knowing that they will get a medal regardless of the outcome. Plus, Murray has a tendency to play worse in finals while Federer is arguably one of the very best at bringing his top form in finals.
Going with Federer in 4.

You're not making any sense. I never said Fed didn't get tired duh his game relies less on his athleticism like Nadal and therefore would be less tired as the game moves on. Your argument as to him having a poor record in 5 setters is not an efficient one because there are so many circumstances that effect that. Here's one interesting stat for you that backs up my statement...Roger has won his last 2 5 set matches and both he was down 0-2 in sets and looked fresher, physically better in shape as the game progressed. For the past 6 years he only lost mostly to Nadal in 5 setters followed by Djo and 1 to delpo and 1 Tsonga and it had little to with his fitness and more to do with his mental ability at that moment, his unforced errors, his form etc.
