I couldn't have asked for much more for that draw. They all got winnable matches

I was also there on Saturday and watched some of those matches with 156 and keech (another Canadian MTF member)
Here's a pic of PLD:

PLD's legs are too thin

i just dont have a ton of confidence in peter beating anyone anymore. As soon as he comes up against someone good enough he loses and i cant remember the last time he's beaten someone ranked higher than him. I think unless he gets one of the weakest qualifiers he'll lose

frank should beat kukushkin quite easily

i dont think vasek is getting by seppi. I rate his chances about the same as what you gave him

Think for the draw overall, given that there's just been this Olympics, a bigger deal than in years past, a lot of the top players won't be into it mentally. Guessing at a Isner / Nishikori final (a couple of guys used to heat and humidity, for one, and who have form enough to get to the Olympic quarters but are a bit fresher for not playing rounds past that). Won't be that surprised if Raonic takes out Murray too, though Andy could possibly not have a let down and instead ride his momentum (my guess is he won't though). This year, guys will only start to gear up at Cincy / play into the Open in the first couple rounds there.

Looking at the doubles (main) draw, see that Bester is playing with Shamasdin and Frank teaming with Vasek. Especially nice to see Philip getting some action, having missed out on his singles qualies WC. (Milos playing too, with Troicki)

i dont know. I think that andy might actually be fueled by his olympic win. He finally won a big final and over federer in straight sets. I think its possible he'll pull out but we'll see

Ya, I loved meeting you both (and the non-MTFers) ..we've v-shared so much over the past two years

And yes, PLD very definitely needs more beef on those legs!

I agree about Peter - I worry that when he gets up the rankings, instead of gaining in confidence, he seems to lose it. A couple of years ago he started losing a lot just after he got to be #1 Canadian. And now he has gotten himself to a new career high and he seems to be playing very passively. A qualifier is a tough draw, as it means someone who is playing well on this surface.

Vasek lost a close one to Seppi last year in St Petersburg: 7-5 7-6(4).

According to some reports, Murray said he is definitely coming to Toronto, but he'll decide whether or not to play depending on how he feels.

Murray will show but likely bow out against first good player.

I'm expecting an absolutely wild tournament - Toronto in most years has a surprise finalist, this year I wouldn't be surprised if there were two.

Kinda second guessing now picking Nishikori over Djokovic, Del Potro, and Tsonga (not to mention Tipsarevic and Cilic). Do think that Djokovic could not be that there mentally, but then again he could - going with Tsonga now to get out of the section (yet another guy who could or could not be fully into playing this tourney).

Definitely possible. A real roll of the dice 'predicting' for this year's edition. Would love to see Milos take out both Murray (cause he checks out) and Isner, in a real grind of a match.
